K7 is reasonable to buy maybe in US. In Europe new is 1150 Euro (only body!)
Well, you can find it for 720€ new in some French brick-and-mortar shops, like Image Photo Lyon Numérique.

For once, we don't get ripped off too much!

So, in Europe it will be 1625 Euro.
If isn't FF who's gonna buy it?
If the price is correct, it will be the highest one for the camera and that unfortunately mean the Europe one . 1625 in Euro is too much for any crop sensor camera.

Is K-R weather sealed? The MP count seems a bit low compared to competition. Is the info firm?

Sorry, I'm relatively new to this forum and probably ignorant, but how do we know that this information is correct?

The price is highest for a crop sensor DSLR so far. So it either directly competes with Canon 7D or it is a very cheap FF. Or someone went insane because at that price it needs to have some serious perks to make the current K10/20/7 users to upgrade. Well, remember Nikon, they were making their commitment to APS and APS only very vocal and along came the FF as a very big surprise.

We don't.

Any credible info needs a credible source, preferably several sources. There is none.

K-7 is very reasonable buying now... I think K-5 will be a failure of Pentax. Too expensive for extra 2 MP and new video modes...

Another brands will launch the same 16 MP cameras - Nikon, SONY. Canon will offer new 18 MP 60D...
No chances to attract old users with K200/20/10/K-x...IMO.
You think everything will be the failure of Pentax.

At this price (1650 euro in Europe) if it's not FF or beats 7D il WILL be a failure and if K7 will be discontinued THIS will be the failure of Pentax.

PENTAX K-5:
- 16 million pixels (SONY new sensor)
- ISO 25600
- 7 frames per sec
- ¥ 139,000 (too high price - $1625 )
If that's all of the important features, I am disappointed.
Basically just a new sensor.
What about AF? I mean real AF?
Does it has a bracketing button again?
What about focus bracketing?
Stop-down coupler?
Inquiring minds want to know!

I don't know, people usually think more expensive means better. Sometimes I wonder if Pentax's prices aren't too low for people to take them seriously, they think there must be a reason for that.

Not that I'm complaining, I still think my K-x is the biggest bargain of any DSLR.

- announcement on September 20
- Released in mid-October

PENTAX KR:
- 12 million pixels
- 6 frames per sec
- 10 color of body and 12 color grip, as the combination 120 colours
- 74,800 yen ($875)
- Released in mid-October
So, K-5 has more pixels, more fps and higher ISO than K-7. Supposedly Sony's new sensor is also good w.r.t. dynamic range, etc. In turn K-R will outshoot K-7 fps-wise and if it has the same sensors as K-x, it will have better high ISO performance. Therefore what is written above makes sense to me. It also makes sense to me to pass on either of these cameras. Further, I am afraid, staying with Pentax may prove not too wise a choice at this juncture. Finally, it is then my sincerest hope that this year announcement will not be just an evolutionary one like ogl describes above.

well thats kinda sad.but we will have to wait and see what other functions it holds(k5)
i too was kinda hoping for a ff from pentax, dont really care as much as others.

ive had my k7 for a year now,its a great camera but kinda sux in the noise area.even at iso 100.(long exposures)if the new sensor is good enough i think it would be a worthy backup camera or primary but it doesnt sound right kinda backwards!!k-7 for backup K-5 for primary?
