K-5 is for video fans.
K-R is...I don't know for whom...
Don't you think we got your point by now, after 5 posts stubbornly repeating the same thing ?

1300-1400 Euro would mean initial K7 price.
This does not sound like a camera above the K7, but like an evolutional update of the K7.
K-7 was 1200/1300 dollars/euros for body/kit. And it was 100 or 200 dollars/euros higher than K10D/K20D. Again price level-up?

Do I really hurt your feelings by my posts? I'm sorry. I present my apologies to you.
But, I think I'm free to say what I think. 5, 10 or 100 times.
We are not in Nazi or Commi world.

1300 body only at local brick and mortar shop.
But quoted estimated price by Ogl may be with kit lens.

C'mon guys, we don't even know if this camera is à la 7D or à la K7 and you all moan because it is not what you want when you don't even know how reliable (or not) is the info from Ogl.

Childish. You'll have all the time to whine when you'll get good reasons for (hopefully not).

I'm thinking about a DSLR for videos but not for 1600 Euro. I prefer hacked GH1 for this.

what SAFOX version ?

is it still SAFOX VIII or VIII+ or IX?

does it now do true AFC tracking?
is the AF as good as or better than Nikon on the same body level?

we'll all have to wait till Photokina 2010...

till then, i'll hold my comments.

Okay...not very much info here, except ogl attached prices to the rumors about the two models supposedly coming out this fall.

If it ain't directly from the horse's (Hoya) mouth, I'm not gonna get too worked up about it.

Which cameras bring Pentax good money after K10D?
The answer is simple:
K200D, K-m and K-x.
LOW-END cameras.
K-7 and K20D had much worse sales.
90% of all Canons sold are entry level cameras. In fact, in percentage I suspect Pentax sell less low-end cameras than anyone else.....

And let's face it-- high-end APS-C is certainly here and strong. From my experience as a photographer and a manager of a camera store, I know more professionals and hardcore hobbyists using Canon 30/40/50/7D and Nikon D300/300s than full frame (although there are a good number 5D MKII users in that bunch.

So, ogl, you're admitting that even you don't believe in the news and rumors that you post?

mirrorless?

That would be something.

I'm convinced that HOYA is clever enough to realize that gaining market share and new pentaxians needs a camera offer (tech/prize) that stands out. K-7 with a new 16Mp sensor would not imo. Sensor + blazing AF would.

Regarding the price... Anyone who knows how much the K-7 was in Yen when new? I guess they have VAT so a direct translation to US$ is not the best way to calculate.
K7 was 130.000 yens new. So Ogl prices sounds correct to me.
And to keep Kx sensor for Kr new body sounds also reasonable, so a bigger difference between both models to justify the high price difference.
I would believe Ogl on this one, even if he didn't yet told us where he get these informations.
On my side, my biggest question is: where is this mirrorless camera Citybank was talking about?!? (even if I really don't care about this model, I believe it is the most important next camera for the survival/growth of Pentax)
PS: VAT in Japan is 5%, so forgot about it.

K-7 is not above 1% of Japan DSLR market. K-x - till 6-7%.
And much lower at the world market.
