i cant get drawn back into this all over again, just insures disappointment.

besides, the thing i would care about most in a hybrid viewfinder, a real-time histogram, is impossible with a mirror blocking the sensor. none of this translucent nonsense please.
77zone metering system gives 77 dots for histogram, if they could increase zones to several hundred and make up some fake points by interpolating zones nearby, they could make a decent histogram.

i don't think we'll see it in this generation though

I think we'd need more than a few hundred points to get a histogram that's accurate within a few percentage points at each point on the horizontal axis and do so 97% of the time.

But then I don't remember enough math to model this. Anyone?

Any idea of the size of the new K-R? Will it be the exact same size as the k-x? The k-x is just too small for me. In my hands it is just a little hard to reach all the controls and I don't feel like I get a good solid grip on it.

I'd guess exactly the same as the K-x, just as K-5 will be same as K-7

For the K5, i guess if the sensor is the same as the K-x. That would explain why the number is going down and not up (7 >> 5).

Even if we all know here than the K-x sensor is better. Non specialists won't understand that a higher megapixel camera can be worse than a lower one.

So that's just makes sense so far. The K-5 would just be the exactly the same as the K7 with the Kx sensor.

So I don't expect any improvement in the AF for the K-5.
I believe more in a K8 non full frame in a few months with a 16 or 18Mp sensor and an improved AF derived from the new safox chip, so still non FF.

This would be coherent regarding the numbers.

If Pentax release a FF, the number might be different to make the difference between expert (K7 or K5) and professional cameras.

What do you think?

But from the film days, the smaller the number, the higher up in the hierarchy is the camera (PZ-1 > PZ-10, or MZ-3 > MZ-5 > MZ-6, etc)...

Improved VF
So, what is with the viewfinder?
Will we see some kind of EVF overlay?

Indeed, because there will not be a lot to improve otherwise. The K-7 already has a 100% viewfinder.

I remember that similar rumors were spread before the K-7 was released.

If you got plenty of beans CMWT, I see no harm in spilling a few

Im not under any NDA's I just get fed info from different people, most of it is already on the forum.

I dont know much about the new VF other than the improvements relate to how the focus points are projected, it will apparently be similar to what Nikon and Sony does.

And oh yes, of there will be no in body focus motor :P hhahahahahaha

Yes, but the magnification could be better.
