The entire Pentax community?
Maybe it's only me that isn't interested in buying FF at this moment...or in the foreseeable future.
I am very interested in FF from Pentax. My FA limiteds are waiting for such body

Yeah, another vote for no FF
Sometimes I want FF. E.g. when I look at the shots I took at f/2 with my Topcon and a Topcor 50mm as a 15 year old boy. To get that shallow DOF with a normal FOV lens, I would need a 30-35mm f/1.4. I also long for FF when I think of how easy it is to focus manually with my LX compared to the "tunnel vision" of the (even quite decent) VF of the K10D.

But then I remember that the next lens on my wish list is the DA 55-300 (in WR version, please Pentax ) and I think of what a great compact system the APS-C Pentax cameras and the DA lenses is, and any wish for FF is gone.

Now, if the K-5 gets the good high ISO we're hoping for, I just need a little better VF magnification and then I don't think I really want FF at all. DFA 85-450mm? Not in my camera bag !

It is a good thing that Pentax didn't release that full frame camera then, or I would be a Nikon shooter today, for sure. There is a time and place for everything and I think we are close to the right time for full frame from Pentax (as long as there are still suppliers selling full frame sensors), but at that time with that sensor, that would have killed the company.

Yeah, another vote for no FF (well, I don't mind if they make it... I'm just not really that interested.)

I mean this in the most general of terms (not aimed at posters above) but I sometimes wonder if the Full-Frame frenzy in the forums is just fueled by people who are always looking for and wanting to buy the next new thing. At 14MP (possibly 16MP coming up) I can't imagine most people need the larger sensor for making larger prints as user polls that I have seen suggest that people go smaller if they print at all. I realize that a larger sensor has the ability to provide higher resolution and different DOF (among a few other things.)

I still just wonder how many people could tell the difference between a properly exposed APS-C 16MP image printed at 8x10 and the same on a Full-Frame sensor.

But for those who need it for work or joy, I hope Pentax delivers for you in the near future!
Yep. No interest whatsoever having used one. I would be interested in a Pentax M4/3. However, I have no objections to Pentax making a full frame camera.

That said, I'm skipping the next Pentax body to buy the new Cosina Voigtlander 50mm F0.95 M 4/3 lens.

Not at ISO100. However at ISO3200 I think it would be very easy to tell which is which

Yes, if the 16mp APS-C were the K-5 and the FF were the A-900, the latter would probably look a little more noisy...

I love how someone threatens to leave Pentax over a rumored camera model to go to Nikon for a rumored camera model.

Jason
It's still a pretty safe bet that a Nikon FF camera will be released before a Pentax model. I will be judging both the K-5 and the D800 and make a decision. I still may stay with the APS-C size, if the K-5 specs are appealing to me.

Okay, first of all are we talking RAW noise or JPEG noise, and at what ISO? It all makes a difference, plus the "K-5" is still the stuff of legend, so you don't really know anyway.

I second that emotion, although it is my own fault for checking these threads every day since the K-5 rumors started. One thing is for sure though, all these Pentaxians are like ravenous dogs chomping at the bit for new gear. Whatever Pentax announces, I hope it will sell like hotcakes and make them tons of money that they can pour back into R&D to get us even better and more diverse options in the future.

Since the $10,000 645D is done and there are 24 million FF K mount lenses out there I think there is a good chance a FF will be shown by PMA 2011 IMHO.

I'll agree with you IF Pentax introduces 24-70 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/.28 DFA lenses in September. Especially if they're DFA*. Otherwise I'm doubtful.

However. I'm sure Pentax is aware of how much many of us are clamoring for a FF body. Maybe, in order to avoid cannibalization of sales they'll introduce all three at the same time.

The biggest issue IMHO for Pentax to introduce a FF camera is that then they need to re-establish their pro support network. Logistically that may be impossible until they've reclaimed market share that they've lost in the past decade or so.

I find it interesting that a prototype from 2001 has a green button...

MZ-S had a green button already. And that's no prototype.

How could it not be a prototype?
