Originally posted by gazonk I know we (i.e. the experienced users) need that, but Pentax urgently needs a fast and cheap normal lens since such a lens has become such a common recommendation for kit lens users who want to take their photography one step further.
24mm corresponds to the classic street shooters film 35mm.
28mm corresponds to the true normal that Pentax had properly as 43mm.
If I was teaching a class on photography I would require that these focal lengths to be used, for historical reasons if no other. I am not talking "experienced" or speciality uses here, but rather the most run-of-the-mill uses possible.
I personally dislike the 35mm aspect on APS-C, which corresponds to 52mm film. I never liked standard 50mm lenses on film either.
I even prefer 43mm on APS-C to 35mm, even though it corresponds to the wacky 64mm field of view. But that could be because the lens is the best Pentax has made. :-)
As for 135mm, it's very good we have a nice 10mm macro, but a distance lens optimised for portraits with at least f/2 largest aperture is missing. This would be perfect for stage / runway work. If it's a larger FA77 I would be very happy.
