I think some of the info was leaked from another sight early this month, and it is a APS-C sensor for both the K-5 and KR.

K-5 being 16mp and the KR being 14mp, I believe.

Dude, if you're telling the truth, I'll send you a lens. Seriously. I've got plenty of old M42 screwmounts laying around. I'll ship one to you as a congratulations if you're correct.

I've done a search online for a 16mp FF sensor and I couldn't find any hint of one. It'd be cool if you were correct but I doubt it.

Im not telling you that I have any info... but... Who knows if the leaked info about the K-5 being aps-c is true? Who can prove that the 16mp info is true? Are you aware that all the info and threads around the K-5 are just hints around that info that suposedly was leaked???

I dont think that anyone knows what are they talking about... do you think I know anything? Do you think I can be more informed, being from a little south american country? we dont even have a real Pentax representative...

But... What if???

What if this website renamed this forum "Wishful thinking, dreams, and drivel"?

Until Pentax/Hoya officially announces something, everything is just a rumor. Even a Photokina announcement doesn't guarantee something in stone. (See. MZ-D).

I hope you are right Milarmon, back a few months ago, everyone is crazy about the K7 and its (speculative) specs, then suddenly the K-x came.

This might be the Pentax's marketing trick, to drive the attention away from their key products?

If every rumor up to this point is wrong, two and a half weeks before a major trade show, I will officially tip my hat to Hoya's ability to keep a secret.

The surprise is that Pentax is being sold off to Halliburton and the optics department is being developed for oil mining and surveying. The weather proof cameras will also become oil resistant. Hoya will then purchase Bushnell and turn them into a professional photography brand :-P

How's that for a surprise :-D

Well, it is always possible, but rather improbable, methinks...

Like their current crop of 35mm-based digital bodies, the Pentax 645D is a crop sensor camera. It has a 44x33mm chip in a mirror box designed for ~56x42mm film area. So it has a crop factor of around 1.27. There are larger MF chips around, but for whatever reason (and no doubt cost is a major factor) they decided to go with that one. It's very possible that the Pentax engineers have decided that a chip which is undersized relative to the mirror box is the way to go, so they take that approach to both their 35mm- and 645-based bodies.

If reasonably priced FF bodies were what everyone really wants, Sony would have been successful with the A850. Pentax appears to have decided that price-competitive FF would be less rewarding financially than price-competitive MF which has an IQ that beats the best from Canon and Nikon.
