That blog looks like it's just there to post crap that people jump on to make cash off of adsense. True or not, only time will tell the true intentions of Pentax at Photokina.

The diagrams they showed had the pentaprism still in there. Plus, and EVF as the flagship?
Wasn't all about having an EVF overlay on top of an optical finder?

That's my recollection as well. In fact, I think these rumours go all the way back to the K20D...

Other than a "clear" or translucent overlay for information readout, it is really pointless in a flagship dSLR. It would increase power requirements which is a treadmill in design. One engineer group improves battery packs and another group comes up with ways to suck it dry. The only EVF that has materialized in this K20 to K-7 time frame is the one on the X90. Patents can be interesting but trying to put them to a specific future model is guess work at best and there are many that never see the light of day. One example was Asahi Optical's TTL shutter priority program patent on the Memorica shown at the 1966 Photokina. The only thing that every made to production was the electronic shutter. The electronic metal shutter showed up in 1975 on the K2. The Electro/ES/ESII had cloth shutters.

Besides, the point was that that place just accumulates "rumors" from various sites including here and spreads them without any basis.

Merriam-Webster:

QuoteQuote:
ru·mor noun \ˈrü-mər\
Definition of RUMOR

1
: talk or opinion widely disseminated with no discernible source

2
: a statement or report current without known authority for its truth

I thought the idea behind the EVF/OVF hybrid was OVF for stills, EVF for Live View and Video shooting in bright light, when the LCD would be washed out.

As far as the compacts, can I have my shutter priority mode back? Please?

You could also surimpose, for example, a live histogram on the OVF.

Or a real-time grayscale filter. Or an edge-detect focus indicator (similar to an "emboss" filter in Photoshop.) There's lots of potential!

What about the lens part of the rumor, is there any indication which prime it might be?

But then you need a "translucent" mirror or the sensor would be left in the dark.

I don't have any inside info, but in the past week I have come across a few mentions of a DA-L 30mm f/2.1 and a DA-L 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6:

Good point... I didn't think this through all the way.

Maybe if the metering sensor had more resolution...

The mirror already is translucent. How do you think AF sensors get their light. Still, the secondary AF mirror might get in the way.

Other than that, the rumor at least sounds believable. I'd even doubt the prime part of it. But those other talks, about FF, hi-end APS-C, some fantastic lenses and similar just wont happen. It will be like always - an interesting SLR, but nothing outrageous, with some small, new and some lost features.

Perhaps it's so secret even they don't know!
