I'm putting my money on: K-r with a cheap prime. Everyone - Sony, Nikon and Canon - has at least one, about time Pentax brought one on the market. And, it makes sense to launch it alongside an entry-level camera.

The prime lens could very easily be a lens for the 645D as well. Pentax is due to come out with a wide angle lens for that system at the very least.

To announce 645 lens with non MF DSLR body is no logical.

I see what you're saying. They may wait until Photokina to announce stuff for the 645D. But on the other hand, the 645D body has already been announced, so they're going to have to announce a 645D lens without an accompanying body at some point.

Ned Bunnell is he still even around?
Ned has been known to disappear from his blog for a few months at a time so its hard to say. He typically shows back up and back-fills some dates.

They will reveal the new DSLR, not EVIL, on 9/9/10 at 1pm Japan time. Not that interested though. :ugh:

If any thing is true K-5 and K-R is already in manufacturing. Here a link back at home with a small group of Pentaxians. We were a small group back then together with Dr. Mark. The guy holding the 645D knows more of the upcoming but i just wait for the official announcement.

Photorumors has more... rumors! More Pentax rumors | Photo Rumors

QuoteQuote:
More details surfaced about the upcoming Pentax announcements on September 9th and September 20th. In addition to the K-5 and the K-r, expected are also, at least two new lenses, some compact cameras and may be “something completely new”. Still not sure how the new products will be divided between both announcements.

The two new lenses are:

DA 35 f/2.4: budget, all-plastic lens; target price below $200
DA 18-125 f/3,5-5,6

The K-x and K-r models will probably coexist for a while. K-7 production has already been stopped. Some more details on the new DSLRs in addition to the specs from yesterday:

Pentax K-r: K-x body; AF active sensor visible in the viewfinder; Sony Exmor HD 14 MP sensor (NOT 12 MP as previously reported); 720p video.
Pentax K-5: K-7 body; slightly better AF (incorporating some tweaks developed for 645D); Sony Exmor HD 16 MP sensor; 1080 video (unclear whether “i” or “p”).
In terms of the “completely new” product, the expectations are for a new Pentax EVIL camera that could be shown at Photokina , probably under glass, just like the 645D few years back. The second possibility (very low chance) is a new full frame Pentax DSLR.

Simply collection of local rumors from our forum and dpreview forum.

I don't think that Pentaxian wait for DA 35/2.4 instead of COOL FA35/2, when Sony and Nikon offer 35/1.8 lenses.
Patent for Tokina 16.5-135mm F3.5-5.6 DX is Pentax's patent, it is more sense to offer 16.5-135 instead of 18-125...

And 18-250 from Tamron in Pentax body was more interesting as travel-lens

I hope this is not true..slightly better AF doesn't sounds very good to me and the new Sony sensor isn't that good in high ISOs (even K-x looks better to me ..with much better details) as it was supposed to be. And I'm still waiting for the fast SDM II zooms. But lets wait and see

I would like to see a cross combination of an ultrawide to a standard zoom like a 14-60 f4 or
a 12-50 f3.5-5.6

Bah that's Sony's crap engine (bad Jpeg, big NR, bad ISO).
