If they released the mint green K-x in the US, my girlfriend would probably get rid of her Rebel for one.

As I said when they released the K-x, this camera should also be for sale in different colors at stores like Urban Outfitters. Like it or not, it's a fashion and lifestyle accessory (that's a little beast of a photographic tool!).

Ah, thanks. That makes lot of sense and was suggested here a while back.

OTOH, it needs a bit of marketing to get that advantage - even if it's no more than a small donation per unit and inclusion in the announcement press release. They may make more of the connection in the coming weeks but are certainly missing an opportunity now.

I don't have a problem with it. It's a cheap way for Pentax to get more marketing legs from a product without any substantial additional cost.

I wish they would have every colour available in North America --- but that would have diluted the additional press they get from new colours.

I think if I walked into a store and saw a K-x in Hasselblad Yellow, it would be hard to resist the impusle purchase!

The colour is a bit muted. I'm thinking more like this:

I do mind that olive green looks kinda military, in a severely awesome way
Mix up pieces of it with the brown camera for a camo-camera. Add weather sealing, and you have the ultimate outdoors camera.

My thought too. For the record, I would seriously consider:
  • Bright bulldozer yellow like the Mamiya
  • Camo olive/tan mix
Those colors fairly scream pro quality/utility.
