I am also hoping for a really cheap prime. It'd be great to see a new 35mm as Pentax's lowest priced prime.
Your wish is granted!

have fun with canikon Hope they are all you are looking for.
Your missing the point here. Both Canon and Nikon are offering 18-135's and 18-200's. It would be nice if Pentax did the same. I would be more than happy to get a DA 18-250 but since Tamron stopped making them I can't find one. That leaves me stuck with the Sigma 18-125mm and 18-250 OS HSM's.

I've actually been thinking an 18-125 would be a nice idea--so long as it isn't just the same quality, price, size, weigh,t speed and price of an 18-250.

The rebadged Pentax version of that lens is no longer available, but the original Tamron is still listed as being available for Pentax.

To check that it is still available go to "Lenses" then choose "Pentax". It is the bottom most lens available. Maybe it has been discontinued in the US but is still available in Europe? Amazon.de offers it but amazon.com does not.

Plus I was disappointed to see that light sources like lamps etc causes the kit lens to flare badly.
Do you own/are you using the hood? I almost never have such issues.

What's wrong with f/3.5-5.6? At least it'll be cheaper. It better not only be available with the K-5 kit though. Pentax needs to sell it separately.

What I want is a DA* 16-90mm F4 like what Nikon have the 24-120mm F4.. 16-90mm would be great range for an aps-c. Throw in the bag The DA* 55mm F1.4, DA* 20mm F2 (please make pentax) and the DA* 11-16mm F2.8 (Why has everyone else got this lens ) I could shoot an outdoor wedding with this kit

Ah, thanks for clarifying.

It was a nice lens. First I didn't really know whether to like my copy or not being a superzoom with obvious compromises made, but then it convinced me time after time with great results. In combination with lens correction in Lightroom (it is one of the supported Tamron models) it rocks even more.

I definitely do not like zoom lenses, I have nothing against them, I just…
So, a nice line up of DA limiteds would be my dream. Starting with the 15 mm, over the 21 mm, the 35 mm macro, a nice DA 50 mmF2 would be perfect to fill the gap with the 70 mm, then the 100 mm WR macro and then, to end, a wonderful 135 mm F 3.5 mm. Wouldn't that be perfect?
