If the new lenses are really the 35mm and the 18-125mm

I will most likely find a way to buy both of them. The 18-125mm lens is something that I've been wanting Pentax to make for a long time. I hate having two lenses on my K-x when I only need one in that range.

The 35mm certainly sounds interesting and I wonder if pentax will introduce more cheap prime lenses. These could fit in very nicely with a EVIL camera.

So will the 18-125 be the kit lense for the k5 or at least one of the options? Or will they go with the 18-55 and 50-200. How about the 16-50 with a nice discount. Its so expensive at around 1200 dollars here in Japan.

I'm hoping that the 18-125mm will be reasonably priced though.

I am also hoping for a really cheap prime. It'd be great to see a new 35mm as Pentax's lowest priced prime.

And a 2.4 is very nice as well at that focal length. Still wish they'd make a 50mm f/1.8.

It's fantasy of local users which became the rumor. But real cheap DA-L 35/2.4 is the shame...Nikon and Sony have 35/1.8 for $200.

Pentax had FA35/2 - outstanding lens. Instead of new DFA35/2 - DA-L 35/2.4...Oh, no...

Given what the others are doing, 18-1XX makes sense for a kit lines with an intermediate body. If Pentax does pursue the outdoor market, then a 18-135 (or so) WR would fit well into that direction.

I, for one, would buy it in a heartbeat. That plus the K-7/K-5 is all the kit I'd need for the relatively rare occasion I'm shooting in inclement weather. The fully-sealed lenses are too expensive (for me) to play a backup role.

If the K7 cana truly work at very high ISO numbers, a relatively slow zoom with
a wide focal range would exploit that capabiltiy, and thus make a good Kit lens as a logical successor to the Pentax-F 35-135.

Real cheap prime = real cheap plastic optical elements and real cheap plastic body.

Sony and Nikon are no good at all for me.

What would be interesting would be a 24-120 F4 like Nikon has. I'll bet a 18-125 will be an average quality, slow, 3.5-5.6ish lens.

I would much rather have an expensive 18-125 f/4 rather than a cheap 18-125 f/3.5-5.6, might as well get a 18-250 or two lenses at that point

currently my dream lens is a 18-250 f/4-5.6 WR

The DA35/2.4 would be a cheap APS-C lens so everyone can afford.
The DA18-135/3.5-5.6WR would be the new kit lens for the K-5 camera.

Wait for the announcement in 3 days ...

Slow APS-C lens - is it what we want? it's ridiculously....Everyone can afford FA35/2 for USD250, but marketing killed this lens.

Pentaxian need fast WR prime of 28-30 and cheap 50 mm lens and non-expensive 85/2.
The competitors can offer cheap 35/1.8, 50/1.8, 85/1.8 (85/2)...What about Pentax?

Slow DA35/2.4, DA35/2.8, DA40/2.8, non-cheap DA*55/1.4....Hmmmmm.

Dead FA35/2 and FA50/1.4

Hmmm..If it's true, it's marketing idiocy of Hoya.

maybe 16.5-135? yes...such WR zoom could be very good

Yes. I am hoping precisely for that. IMHO While it might not cater to the pro or semi-pro market, a prime with less than 50mm focal length and large-ish would be great for us. By 'us' I mean the people who recently joined the bandwagon with k-x. A lot of our decisions were factored by the cost. Our class can't afford FA 31 LTD or other * or LTD lenses. The lens doesn't have to be top-class, just something with autofocus. If somebody questions whether people would buy it, they will. The midrange users vastly outnumber the enthusiast and pro users. Maybe not now but hopefully within a year or so. Until then the F 50 1.7 or manual focus lenses will do. :-)
