K-X = bargain right now and the market recognizes that.
I've argued elsewhere on the forum that the K-X should stay on the market at roughly the existing price because:
* It is properly valued at that price. More than one reviewer has called it a steal.
* It will not, then, compete with new K-? at USD $700-$800 (street price after initial sales flurry).
* Compact size, lots of colors, and high ISO will appeal to beginners to whom AF points are a mystery in any case.
* It can move to big box stores by the pallet-load with a nice intro kit. Maybe try the K-M scheme and add a flash. Imagine a pallet or two at the end of the Walmart/Costco aisle. Just as Nikon did with the D40 after a while. They sold a pile of cameras and locked more users into Nikon.
Can't wait to see how this rolls out as the year comes to an end .....
