Another thing i do not understand is the lens line up. Isn't Hoya a premier glass and optics designer.
Pentax just isn't giving me that warm and fuzzy feeling. I am kinda worried.
Too bad for them. Just bad business.
Sure, Gary - you and some others would like the decent K-x sensor in the K-7 successor, but as has been discussed, there needs to be more pushing of the envelope if Pentax's flagship model is to compare and compete with the rival companies, making new buyers go for Pentax over the other brands for good reasons. The sensor is the heart of the camera, and has to perform. 12Mp is simply not the way forward for Pentax in the K-5. I'm certainly not advocating a pixel competition, but with 14Mp being offered in the last 2 flagship models, going backward in the next model is a definite backward move. I'd personally be disappointed - and it wouldn't be right to fit it in the K-r either...
Now the K-7 was definitely no failure either, regardless of the sentiment expressed here by a few - it actually put Pentax on the map internationally. People's heads were turning towards the K-7, then when the K-x came out, it too became a hit internationally. Things are looking up for Pentax, but yes, the momentum does need to build up for the success to continue, so I'm hopeful that in just over 24 hours this will indeed be the case...
