So K-r is on the way for sure, but don't know what to say about k-5. Was just bored and went on Pentax website and did some logic deductions...if existing models have dedicated websites, the new ones should also have. For k-7 website is デジタル一眼レフカメラ:PENTAX ... so i replaced k-7 with k-r, easy. And guess what, username and password required, "secret area". Did the same for k-5, no such page.
Easy: the rumor source is the semi-blind technician who always makes a mess with something in the Pentax cameras. It's K-8, but he read 5...

Some kind of Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm f/2.4 derivative?

Interesting price point, especially given that the rumors pegged the K-r at around $850-$900.

Surprises like that are always good. Can't wait for tomorrow!

Sounds very good for the K-r but I hope the 35 f/2.4 is not true: everyone else is offering a 35 f/1.8 ! And to repeat myself 35mm is not good as a "normal", it's too long. 28-30mm is much better.

If that price is correct, maybe the K-5's pricepoint will be online with nikon's D7000 which would be GREAT!

It will be hard to sell to those who only want some 1.* lens, but if the specs are true, it's an extremely lightweight and small lens.

So is the 40mm f/2.8 that was sold at 200-250$ a few years ago (bought mine 200$ on the used market). I see no interest in a cheap 35mm f/2.4 (even worst for me is I already have the 35mm f/2). It will just make the other companies (Nikon, Sony) much more competitive unless it's sold around 100$. I would sell my 35/2 for a 30/2 the size and quality of the Samsung NX lens. It would sit so perfectly between my 21mm ltd and my 40mm ltd.

Pentax KR sounds just like what I've been waiting for to upgrade my K100DS. Hope it has the top LCD though - could be the deal breaker for me ( I've gotten sooo! used to using it). Also, I'd like it to have a port/terminal for my cable switch, remote F capabilities, and the focusing points in the viewfinder. The price is right. Hope it all comes to fruition - I'm ready to buy.

If these specs are right and the K-r comes out at that price point I'm guessing no weather sealing, better AF, better shutter, AF points visible, probably better movie mode and a better view screen. Basically like a K-x super. I'll be interested to see if it has two wheels.

The 35 f/2.4 doesn't sound good on paper, but neither did the 15 f/4, and people love that lens.
