Lol, believe it or not I was thinking the same thing... i've been wanting magnification between what I get with the M 28mm and M 50mm

The lack of an aperture ring is a bit disheartening, but I've already convinced myself I wont need it

Now what color? The lens is a joke to me anyways, so its looks have to match that
Well, we knew there would be no aperture ring.

I think you have to go with green or brown. However, I think here in the states it'll just be black, white, or red initially.

Im sure ebay will alleviate that problem

The green is a bit to minty looking as far as I can tell
Brown is a possibility.... but as I said its all a big joke so I was thinking GOLD!
Now that would be something

edit: based off of http://www.camera-pentax.jp/k-r/simulator.php#010113 gold lens and black camera looks amazing

Faster is always nice but this guy has the look for a Limited lens without the Limited price. It's clean and sleek, definitely more attractive than the kit lens. I can't remember the last time I used the aperture ring on my FA50 1.4 so not including one here I could care less. If this proves to be a stellar piece of glass for the price I'll buy it despite not really needing it.

Press release entry level price is $219 US so I'd disregard PENTAX Japan unless you're buying in Yen.

The FA 35/2 AL never had the Quick Shift and had a pretty skinny manual focus ring. Same thing with the other FA series like the 50/1.4, 50/1.7 and FA 28/2.8. While it doesn't have Q.S., the focus ring on the DA L 35/2 may be an improvement in that regards.
Yeah, I know. I don't use my FA 50mm f1.4 that much for a few reasons.

One such example is I tend to rotate the focus ring by hand back to un-extend the lens before I put it in the camera bag. Otherwise I'd have to hold my hand over the lens and let the camera auto-focus it back, or switch the camera into manual focus mode and then rotate by hand.

I was just saying that QS is convenient, but I would still get the new lens at or around $150, or more depending on optical quality.
