The original 1D actually syncs at 1/500.
I can get 1/500 if I use the pocket wizard Flex tt5 with the control TL on my 1dmkIII. In the pocket wizard utility I can manually set the timing on the front and rear curtain to increase the sync speed. But using Canon EX speedlights the max sync is 1/300 unless you don't mind a little bit of dark curtain at the bottom of the frame.

Well, if you are willing to play tricks you can sync the 1D at 1/16000 since it uses an electronic shutter.

Kx IR modified 12,800 ISO

Yeah, 12800 is not a place I like to venture, so I believe the Kx can outperform it there since it looks like a hell of a sensor.
Wedding I shot 3 weeks ago. Not bad. 31 limited, f2, 1/200, 12,800 ISO. DNG No NR in camera or applied in ACR (usually has default of 25 suppressing color noise)

100% crop

Except in price, size, weight, stabilisation, image control, hyper-program and other modes, ergonomics, etc. etc. Yep, otherwise Pentax are losers.

How many serious photographers want a video camera incorporated into their serious still camera?
Lots. They're called journalists.

Just try to buy a pro HD video cam with lenses as versatile and high quality as say the FA Limited trio. Now chop off a zero or two and you can buy the Pentax system.

actually for a journalist something like Pana 14-140 will be much more versatile than all 3 FA limited plus the rest of DA limiteds and FA* combined... they are not exactly after creative effects.

Yet another idiotic statement by an armchair expert. I refer you to my 7D ISO 6400 100% crop over on this thread (which I noticed the 7D bashers on this board have chosen to ignore):

You will also find ISO 3200 shots by Pingflood here.

Sorry, my two statements seemed to indicate a journalist would be using an FA Limited lens -- of course not! A journalist would not be using Pentax at all, in all likelihood. But if they did I would guess the DA* zooms would be the most common choice.

In any case many journalists have jumped on the chance to send video back with their stills for the evening news. It saves the broadcaster an extra person in the field.
