If that is the case, I really need to save my pennies to buy it. I'd buy it for the $1600 too. (Just thought I'd get ahead of those that tend to gripe about Pentax Prices). If it was a Canon or Nikon it'd be more than that.

Sounds nifty if true.

It is a bit pricey, but I assume given a few months street price will be a couple hundred off of MSRP.

Well it's definitely more expensive than the K-7 when I got it in July last year.

I paid $1999 for the unit inc Sigma 17-70.

But still if its feature set and AF systems are that good it would be worth it.

Price is a bit high (but as always may not be indicative of actual street price) but these specs look *very* promising.

hard to say at this point, although the 16mp sensor is pretty much given and it should have more fps than the kr and k7 so 8 sounds reasonable.

1080p hd is to be expected to compete, hopefully with an option for a more compressed codec than mjpeg and 24fps rate. And will it have af or not, I guess not.

actually from these specs, true or not, this one seems like a cool idea
Hybrid VF utilizing translucent LCD to display focus points and framing grid.

actually putting a translucent lcd in the vf to display info on top of the optical view, although I would expect it would make the frame darker, if it somehow could be turned off and then didnt really affect the brightness of the vf then. it would be cool if they had some neat trick like that to set it apart from other cameras using the same sony sensor.

hopefully they will be focusing on the af system, actually the k7 system is quite good but only the single shot af, the continuous one is not good.

flash sync being 1/250 with certain flashes doesnt sound right. its a property of the camera shutter and not affected by which flash you put on it.

dual sd would be cool or at least a functioning slot in the grip, plenty of space in there for it, or maybe let the grip take 2 batteries, so u can get 3 in total.

I would love the dual card slots especially if you have customizable options for how you want to use them. And new flash system and syncing at 1/250 would be great also. But if you can sync with new flash at 1/250 why wouldn't I be able to sync with other flashes at the same speed or with Cybersyncs using my Alien Bees which I can't do now?

This is the one for me! (salivating)

I've had a D700 on stand-by and held off having a fire sale because I was told by a Pentax service manager that the new Pentax flagship camera would match or exceed the D700 in terms of low light performance and so I'm really hyped about this one. Because it means, saving thousands of dollars and months of hassle as I'd have to sell off everything I own in order to start a new kit for work. However... if Pentax delivers(as promised), then I get to keep my beloved Pentax kit and step-up my game without all the hassles.

So should things pan out, replacing my K20's with K-5' will be a win win for me.
Oh and the wife is already pretty excited about the K-r as well. Though she did mention she'd miss the grip option she had with her K200D.

AND ISO 50... how about that!

The dimensions are the same as the K-7, whew!......looks mighty enticing, wow!

P.S: Darn it, I was really wishing I wouldn't have to upgrade my k-7, but a man can only have so much self-control.........I am really curious to see how the expanded iso 100 and iso 50 perform.

The even number of focuspoints and the x-sync depending on flash makes this sound fishy

Does expandable mean some sort of loss of quality when you extend beyond the normal settings? I don't get why if it's 50-25,600 it shows as 200-12,800 plus the extendable range?
