Not the least bit interested unless the AF equals that of my D700.

Unlikely I reckon, from memory the base iso of the Sony sensors is 200? And expanded is 100, I don't know any aps-c cameras that do 50, or am I wrong?

I personally don't believe 50 iso on the k5
K-7 had ISO50 and AF in video in pre-production version

It will get my business if this is correct.....I have recently been thinking D700, but the cost of the forklift to carry it around is beyond my budget....I'll be sticking with Pentax.
Regards!

I'd sell it soon, it's value might drop pretty severely

I was so lucky to get my $800 for mine yesterday
I realize that, being aware that when the K5 hits the market, I will likely be short handed. But, I am still enjoying the K7 and willing to wait at least until I have enough assurance that this K5 would be the camera to buy.

Selling it now would also mean that I can no longer cary two bodies on my outings.
Might seem funny, but I still will keep my K20D.

Cheers.

I had this emailed to me today from a friend who works a camera store here, to be honest I am not entirely convinced as the layout and some wording looks VERY VERY similar to the K-r specs from dpreview.com

Disclaimer:

I take no responsibility for any of whats written below, as I said above i'm not fully convinced that my mate isn't having me on, but either way
Chris:

Very interesting thread you have here ... !

The two things which really grabbed my attention were:

• 4 Custom AF-C modes, auto, action, portrait, night: especially the "action" setting ... lockable AF ???
• ISO standard : 200-12800

That would be enough for me to want to buy in the K5.

Thanks for sharing!

JP

For bird photographers, excellent AF, low noise at high ISO and FPS are critical for getting consistent and reliable Birds In Flight shots....

So if these prove to be close to or matching the actual spec on the new camera (presuming there is actually a K5 coming out), and the reviews are good, I will finally be upgrading my trusty old K10D...

Fingers crossed as well! If all holds true, Happy Dance for all waiting for this day.

Until there is an official announcement don't trust anything lol.

I hope the specs are true but my spider senses tell me 80% Is true, the k-r vindicates the speed and performance side of things.

For the record I don't believe the 50 ISo claim, I've heard conflicting reports on the dual sd card bit and the fact that the k-r lacks manual movie controls has raised my eyebrows.

This is an exerpt of an email regarding the k7s flash sync:

Flash sync could have been upgraded with firmware to go to 1/320 sec without SR and 1/ with it (see Nikon specs.) and the capture rate could have been given a boost with a bigger power supply, but expense was too great. The reason the higher flash sync was not used was the flashes needed, and still need, an upgrade. While they offer high speed sync., the operation of that function is far different from being able to work fully at a higher shutter speed.
I *think* that that is trying to say, a bit clumsily, what I said.

everybody does not use pentax own flashes. I am shure everybody with a flash with shorter duration would have liked the faster sync. I dont think pentax holds a feature back like that
Pentax does not support use of their cameras with 3rd-party flashes. Metz, Sigma, and Promaster are all only compatible through reverse-engineering. So it would be very unlikely for Pentax to go out of their way to enable a feature their own flashes aren't up to.

How's that again? The current Pentax cameras have AF.S, AF.C, and M.

yep,18 points AF system is great,it's a time for pentax to apply higher-grade AF system in flag body, anyway, many users evaluate AF capability according to the number of AF points. In fact, the number of AF points have been indeed a symbol to distinguish different cameras in canon and nikon

But not one right in the center? That's weird.
