Congrats on leaving the dark side Trublubiker and joining those of us who have found our way to Pentax. I'm a former Canon shooter myself and don't regret making the change.

Gee, nobody seems at all excited about Video Mode.

How many serious photographers want a video camera incorporated into their serious still camera? I for one don't.

As I said in a previous post, the flagship model should be aimed at the Pro end of the market, those who want the best gear for their still shots, and bung the video camera in the entry level model where the user may not be so fussy about the quality of their work, and would appreciate the extra bells and whistles.
I fully agree!

More lenses

I stopped in at the Pentax site the other night looking for updated equipment when I saw the K-5. I though they said it was being released in October because they are taking pre-orders for then.

What I would like to see from them is more glass. The highest I found at their site was 300mm/f4 and I wouldn’t mind seeing a 600mm/f2.4 or something in that range from Pentax.

A 600 f2.4 ? If this lens is feasible - which is doutfull it would cost more than 100 000 $ and sold less than 5 units.
The rumored 400mm f4 would be very wellcomed - it is the equivalent of the FA600 f4 in APS-C. Or there is still a 600f4 - build on order; I have one.
Regards

Do you also want the humvee that that monster lens would have to be mounted on?

Sad to say I'm not sure if Pentax has shown much interest in the twilt-swivel LCD, yet. I would think if they were they would have put it on the K-r.

The Canon 60D may have what you're looking for if you want this sort of performance with a twilt and swivel LCD.

7D good high ISO, you must be joking Calibrate your monitor and compare
Hmm, I'm no expert, but there was an ISO comparison a ways back on the popular DCWatch site here in Japan between the K-7, 7D, and D300s. To my eyes, the K-7 is clearly noisier:

ƒLƒ„ƒmƒ“uEOS 7DvŽÀŽÊ‰æ‘œ&ƒ‰ƒCƒoƒ‹‚Ƃ̉掿”äŠr - ƒfƒWƒJƒWatch

7D 6400 ISO (No NR):
Pic1: gAPS-CƒnƒCƒ~ƒhƒ‹ƒNƒ‰ƒXh3ƒ‚ƒfƒ‹‚ð”äŠr‚·‚éiŽÀŽÊ•Òj - ƒfƒWƒJƒWatch
Pic2: gAPS-CƒnƒCƒ~ƒhƒ‹ƒNƒ‰ƒXh3ƒ‚ƒfƒ‹‚ð”äŠr‚·‚éiŽÀŽÊ•Òj - ƒfƒWƒJƒWatch

D300s 6400 ISO (No NR):
gAPS-CƒnƒCƒ~ƒhƒ‹ƒNƒ‰ƒXh3ƒ‚ƒfƒ‹‚ð”äŠr‚·‚éiŽÀŽÊ•Òj - ƒfƒWƒJƒWatch
gAPS-CƒnƒCƒ~ƒhƒ‹ƒNƒ‰ƒXh3ƒ‚ƒfƒ‹‚ð”äŠr‚·‚éiŽÀŽÊ•Òj - ƒfƒWƒJƒWatch

K-7 6400 ISO (No NR):
gAPS-CƒnƒCƒ~ƒhƒ‹ƒNƒ‰ƒXh3ƒ‚ƒfƒ‹‚ð”äŠr‚·‚éiŽÀŽÊ•Òj - ƒfƒWƒJƒWatch
gAPS-CƒnƒCƒ~ƒhƒ‹ƒNƒ‰ƒXh3ƒ‚ƒfƒ‹‚ð”äŠr‚·‚éiŽÀŽÊ•Òj - ƒfƒWƒJƒWatch

I dunno about how you interpret this comparison, but the K-7 looks to be taking a huge beating at high ISO.

Sorry, just noticed that the links end up with garbage characters, but they should still be clickable! ^^;

It certainly looks that way to me. On the other hand, this looks nothing like the RAW noise comparison done by DPreview at Pentax K-7 Review: 16. Photographic tests (Noise): Digital Photography Review (in which the K20D wins).

Just bought a k7 2 months ago, and was salivating over that.

It's just my guess.

Focuspoint in the center or all the points symetrically spread. With an even number of points you can only pick one
How about a choice between 2 patterns, selectable in menu or button? I'm playing with dots on paper, but perhaps one pattern optimized to 1/3's landscape and one optimized to portrait, using one center point (10 spots landscape, 9 spots portrait, sharing the center point = 18)

I'm on a K20D and based on specs alone, I'd almost be willing to pre-order a K5. High ISO's that maintain low noise and high IQ are THE THING for macro and long telephoto work = most nature photography, which is a central interest of mine.
