Class A, while I agree with most of your reasoning here, I don't think the thesaurus is the right place to look for a definition.
Agreed. My point was just that one might be excused if one read more than "rumour" into "credible".

Never the less, your analysis of the structure of the sentences is, dare I say, credible.

Well, not even the Photokina knows when it's held. Here's what was shown in 2008 (not my shot though):

Well, the making of another PK took 103 rather than 104 weeks only. So, they launch it a week early

So don't panic. Since leak pictures show a K5 with a DA kit lens, you can keep saving money for the Pentax FF body...
The surprise (if surprise there is) will be elsewhere.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if it is a useless software gimmick of some sort.

A DA18-55 has been mounted to a FF K-5 "by mistake"

For me, the surprise is either FF K-5 (there have to be a DFA*24-70/2.8 SDM with it), or Pentax gear heads came out a focusing method in a EVIL that could focus like Sony A55 and maintain the compactness, and, not reducing the light reaching sensor. And plus sensor SR.

It seems I want FF more than EVIL from my expectation

That stays in my mind clearly too!
I wanna see what it is after all. like Gimble said, software things are useless.

Are they painting colors to k-5 not only in he ranbow range, but also infra red and ultra violet? or making it invisible?

Or intentionally put there to throw us off...

But seriously, I doubt it. Maybe the surprise is just that Pentax will announce that it does in fact have FF plans, and will announce them with a road map. Or maybe some super awesome new lenses. But at this point I think we're pretty certain that the K-5 isn't FF.

Ok, I don't have any rumors, but a question. If the new focus system is based on a new "algorithm", couldn't we, the unwashed masses with archaic antique equipment like the K20D, K7 and K-x benefit from a firmware update? Before you say 'no', consider that my autofocus was greatly improved with v1.10.
It could, but there are some big reasons why it probably won't.

1) Business is business. You want to differentiate your newer products form your older ones ina manner that encourages upgrading. The AF in older cameras isn't broken, so why improve it for free?

2) Just because there are still 11 points doesn't mean those 11 points are the same exact hardware with the same exact capabilities.

3) If the improvements are in the algorithms, they may be more CPU hungy, and might only be an improvement on faster processors. So your older camera might not have enough power to make it an actual improvement.

the 19 point af in eos 7 is absolute compareble with nikon d300 af.
same usefull funktions and speed.
only the number of points is not the medicine for all
Exactly. I use more than the center point a lot, but I can't imagine a huge benefit from 7 more points. Now a LOT more points, I could imagine some software tricks to make it much more useful, especially for action photography. But you can also make 11 points work better for action photography than they have in the past.

My (worthless) picks for alleged "big surprise" in order of probability:

* Funky viewfinder thingie we're hearing about. I hope it can be tweaked or turned off.

* Statement of direction re: EVIL.

* HDR in camera with significant ability to align three images. Perfectly suitable and quite easy for nearly all hand-held shots. Not competitive with dedicated SW owing to very limited tone controls. Solves many DR problems on static scenes.

* SR enhancement that's different in quality rather than quantity (responds to different movements and/or in a different manner).

* Voice activated manual mode: "Camera listen! Set aperture to 2.8, set shutter to 1/250, set ISO to 1.6 times ten to the fifth ... camera execute, camera shoot!" Ka-chunk.

* Clear statement of direction re: FF.

* Announcement of working prototype cold fusion power plant.

* FF product announcement.

I have filed for the traditional vague concept patent on #5.
