Samyang 35mm f1.4 photos

I found these over in the canon lens talk over at dpreview and thought they might be of interest. If priced like the 85 I would buy it for sure.

The new Nikon 35/1.4 is so expensive that I'd need to win in lottery. If this lens is cheap, I'll get it.

Is the new 35 f/1.4 priced > $2,000 just like the 24 f/1.4 was? Man, high end Nikon prime prices make comparable Canon L primes look reasonable in comparison.

On the Samyang, anyone else getting Star Wars vibes from this promo? I feel this will go perfectly with a white K-x

With Zeiss not bringing its 35 f/1.4 out for Pentax, it's good news that this will be available.

Bugger me, that's a lot of glass. Samyang's putting some effort into this - good on 'em.

Yes it is going to be cheap, but it is also going to be manual focus...
On my side, it is OK. My Samyang 85mm f/1.4 is my favourite lense. So much that I need to buy its equivalent in FF world now that I am switching (Canon 135mm f/2 L).
But the new Samyang reference is not anymore the 85mm, but the 14mm f/2.8 which has stratospherical resolving capacities, at least as good any 2000 dollars genuine wide angle (test in Photozone and Lenstip). I will order the Canon version within a few days.

Interesting to see the price. It will be a good alternative for the available glass now.

Awesome. With the high cost of ZK's I've had my eye on the Samyang 85mm for a while now.

Their lenses definitely fill a niche!

I have the 85mm and think it is a swell lens. It produces very sharp images. I should probably use it more.

If they can release this lens for less than $300 I am all over it.

Are Samyang's fully manual or just manual focus — do they have aperture rings and/or auto-aperture A-positions? Just curious... nice if they were like Pentax A lenses.

Sounds great, I have to consider these, especially the 80mm, good value for the money I think. I wonder if we have Samyang Lens Club already?

I wonder if they can already put some electronics in lens, it should not be that hard to add AF capability for screw drive mounts (pentax, sony and nikon?).

It's nice to see another player joining the lens market. Might make some healthy competition.

If it is as cheap as their previous MF lenses I am all over this. The 35ltd needs some competition.

Combine this one with a fast 50 and their 85/1.4 and we have a good range covered in bright primes, below 100mm. Add to that a future 20 - 25mm fast one and I would be a happy camper.

If it's significantly cheaper than the FA31 I will be thoroughly impressed. From the results of the 85mm and 14mm lenses, it might be killer if ppl don't mind MF (unfortunately I do)

I hardly think A contacts qualify as electronics in the lens. You can build your own using aluminum foil (for the A contact) and scotch tape (for the aperture info contacts). (Doing so won't make an A lens, since the aperture lever won't close down the right amount per movement, but when building a new lens that's easy enough to fix.)

AF on the other hand requires the lens to actually talk to the camera, using a protocol that pentax doesn't want to share. (Just like all the other stupid manufacturers.)
