If this lens is true !

I will get it.

I have their 85mm f1.4 and just bought their 8mm F3.5, and have a mirror lens by them :- )

Their built quality is fantastic and the lenses are very, very good - their price is even better !

Who in there right mind would by a 35mm f2.4 with a poly mount, when this is available, of course we need to compare ;- )

Someone who needs auto focus. Trust me chasing toddlers with MF lenses is a pain. At the price points I would consider both, there is certainly room for each in my collection of affordable lenses.

If it's significantly cheaper than the FA31 I will be thoroughly impressed. From the results of the 85mm and 14mm lenses, it might be killer if ppl don't mind MF (unfortunately I do)

The Samyangs leave me with mixed feelings.
The price is nice of course.
But the quality is problematic.
I had a 85mm and the contrast wide open was mediocre. Also corner resolution not good. And then the aperture problem. I gave mine back.

The 14mm has a very pronounced, ugly wavy distortion. Sharpness is top, though. Flare was so bad that Samyang trashed the first edition after tests and had to improve coatings. Still a problem.

And then the size.
This 35/1.4 is incredibly large. Why?
Ok, the Zeiss is that large, too.
Let's wait for the tests …

You probably get a bad copy of the 85mm, because mine is almost perfect. Optically, my best lens (probably even better than my Tamron 17-50 f/2.8). Colors are fantastic, and no corner problem (anyway, I usually shot between f/1.4 and f/2, so corners... )

The 1st edition of the 14mm had flare issue, Samyang decided to postpone the release to correct it (how many company do that?!?) and now is almost better as all its pairs for flare and exceed their resolving power (including the new Nikkor 14-24mm).
The only remaining problem is the wavy distortion, but without consequences on landscape (only problematic on architecture) and can be corrected in different software using appropriate profiles.
For that price, it is going to be mine within the next days!

Then, the 35mm is released the sae year than all its pairs, so the IQ comparaison will be easy.

Yes, because the Nikon AI version is shown in the picture.

it could be a potential cheap MF lens alternative to the FA31 for portraiture or shallow DOF use. if it could produce magic and some outstanding resolution wide open ( I dont mind border weaknesses at this opening), it would be very hard to beat. great resolution all over at f4 and lower would make it an outstanding MF normal/general purpose lens.

The previou models in USA were sold in the brands: Rokinon, Vivitar, Opteka, Falcon, etc... You have plenty of choice for the shop (I think to remember B&H is offering one of these brands, probably Falcon?)

But I think I have read that since this new 35mm, Samyng will sell them with it's own name (or maybe it is only in Europe, not sure).

Does anyone apart from me think that the copper-coloured ring on the 35 seems strange? To me, it looks as if the lens has been partly disassembled at the base.
Apart from that, it looks like a quality piece of kit.

And why does it seem to have two aperture rings?
