where? there is only one aperture ring that I see. unless you are talking about the small markers as well which is not an aperture ring.

geez, why do these things need to be so large? there's probably no other way to do it with the registration distance of the K-mount, but it is rather sad... a 35/1.4 on APS-C offers roughly the same FOV and DOF as a 50/2 on FF. I'd love a small camera do just that, even if it was a fixed lens. But I don't see myself taking this cannon with me all the time. Makes me wonder what would be bigger/heavier: a K-x + 35/1.4, or a 5D + 50/1.8... I think I'll stick with slower primes until the mirrorless bodies have matured, they make fast(ish) normal glass on APS-C much smaller.

If this lens is in the same category as the 85 and 14 (ie good optically although not stellar), I will give it a try on my 5D and K10.

Hopefully it will be decent in the center wide open.

Yeah, it is kinda large. 110mm compared to about 83mm for the new Nikon 35mm.

Yes, those markers, none of my similar lenses have extra markers, that is why my curiosity.. it's like double information.

gawan, as someone else said, the Nikon Ai version is pictured. All Nikon Ai lenses have aperture markings like those.

AF on the other hand requires the lens to actually talk to the camera, using a protocol that pentax doesn't want to share. (Just like all the other stupid manufacturers.)
In a recent interview with the Samyang CEO he said they were looking into autofocus versions and it was an area they'd be interested in moving towards once they had finished the optical designs they had in the pipeline. He didn't say what designs those were (only that the 35mm f/1.4 would be presented at Photokina), but I expect they'll go for either a 24mm f/2 or 135mm f/2.8 next. Or maybe they'll be brave and attempt a 24mm f/1.4 and a 135mm f/2.

If they do develop an AF mount and price the AF versions even $300 above the MF equivalents, they'll still sell a boatload to Pentax and Sony shooters.

Those little aperture numbers are for Nikon cameras with an Ai coupler and a little window at the top of the viewfinder that lets you see what aperture your lens is set to. The Pentax LX (and I think the MX) had this feature back in the film days, but they didn't need a second row of numbers like the Nikon cams do.

weight

I can imagine how much this not so little puppy weighs.

I can see the benefit of toting the da 35/2.4 or the 35 macro limited for sheer ease alone

I've read somewhere that these guys are working on adding AF to their lense. that could make a real impact, even if it's regular screwdrive.

Sample Images?

I have the Rokinon-branded version of the 85 1.4, which produces great results wide open, considering its price. I haven't seen much talk about the 14 2.8 -- anybody have any experience with that one, good or bad? Any links to reviews? I'll probably skip the 35 1.4 because it duplicates lenses I already have (and besides, I need AF in that focal range for an everyday lens), but I hope they keep expanding their lineup - more options are always appreciated.

That's right, the MX had it too. Also the KX and the K2 (and e.g. some of the good old Minoltas).
