Samyang announces 35 mm f/1.4 AS UMC for Pentax

Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC for Pentax
In a Photokina pre-release, Samyang announced it's all new 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC destined for; Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Samsung, Sony NX and 4/3 mounts.

The announcement came shortly following Pentax and Nikon's 35mm prime announcements which are both AF solutions, while the Samyang lens remains a manual focus. A discrepancy that Samyang will no doubt address at the price point level.

According to DPReview;

QuoteQuote:
Pre-Photokina 2010: Samyang Optics has announced a 35mm F1.4 lens in Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Samsung NX, Sony Alpha and Four-thirds mounts. This manual focus lens, with its large f1.4 aperture, is made up of 12 elements in 10 groups and uses floating focus mechanism for better image quality across the range of focus distance. Price and availability for the 35 mm F1.4 UMC lens will be announced at the end of this month.
The Samyang 35mm construction is made-up of twelve elements arranged in ten groups. Thanks to a two lenses high refraction glass factor, overall weight and dimensions have been reduced. Moreover, one aspherical element is used to CA while high-quality coatings work to provide high contrast and vivid color imaging. The Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS/UMC also makes use of a floating element to maximize IQ with a minimum focusing distance.

Technical data: Samyang 35mm f/1.4 AS UMC
  • Focal lenght: 35 mm
  • Effective APS-C focal: 49mm
  • Maximum Aperture: f/1.4
  • Optique construction: 12 elements/10 groups, a-spherical
  • Mount: Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Samsung, Sony NX, 4/3
  • Field of view: 63.1
  • Minimum focus: 0.3m
  • Front filter dia.: 77 mm
  • Dimensions: Length; 111.5mm to 130mm
Street pricing has yet to be annouced, though a Photokina introductory announcements are rumored to be around 200 to 250.
