Asahiflex, is that a 100% crop from the K-r? If so, I would say it trounces the D7000!
No, that's whole picture.

Well, not really compatible then. I can't wait to see the comparisons on DPReview between the K-5, D-7000 and new Sony DSLRs. Official specs on the K-5 will be a partial relief next week, but then I will be waiting still for the comparison shots

Well, to us K200D users, even if that would be 6400 ISO, and not 12800, I am extremely impressed. That looks better than my ISO 800 looks

I read that the Nikon sensor is custom made from the same Sony design. However... for what it's worth, Pentax has a habit of eeking more detail out of their designs than their competitors ans so I'm pretty optimistic about the K-5 at this stage of things.

One often overlooked attribute in this whole D7000 vs K-5 shenanigan is where Pentax could very well end-up with a better IQ and faster FPS system than Nikon. Which would not put them in a positive position in the market, but also as a leading competitor insofar as performance goes.

Either way, there's only a few more days to go before the BIG moment. It's definitely going to be an exciting time for the Pentaxians come Monday
I agree with you, word by word.

That is outstanding high ISO .... that is a concert shooters dream.

Plus, low light museum stuff, candids etc, etc, the list is to long. We are almost at the point of "if you can see it, you can shoot it" ...... Fantastic !

wll
And your street/night/concert and wedding photographer. I am watching closely since I have used 3200 regularly at weddings etc, even with my canon 20d (which was a bit scary)

Nice picture from the Nikon D7000, but the "full size" is only 2.6Mpxls (2000X1325). So the 100% crop is not a real 100 crop.

Same with my K10D at 800...even 400 in many cases!

I sure hope this is a high and low ISO performer!!!

The K10D's iso 1600 can do this and the K-7's iso 6400 is only marginally worse than this. I think the K-x's iso 12800 is much better than the sample posted.
