If the k-5 was full frame hoya/pentax kept one hell of a secret.
you would think that would be all over the place.

I will end up with the k-5 either way. . I have been spending 4 to 6 hours a day shooting(weather permitting).

so I would really like to (i.e. have an excuse) pick up another body. because the k-7 is all I have right now. and I think I would go into a fit of depression if something happened to it.
That's what I am going to tell the mother of my twins anyway

This may be completely arbitrary; however, I was looking at Amazon and noticed the FA50s price reduced about $100. Now, it may mean nothing. I mean, it's still overpriced at $350 for new, however, I saw the same on the Pentax mount Voigtlanders just before it was announced they would stop making them. Maybe vendors making room for new inventory on the eve of the announcement?

That's one of those dangerous rumours... if it isn't FF and you buy into the rumour it's one heckuva letdown!

But if you don't buy into it, then it's just Adam having some good fun with us!

I am picking it up either way... unless its has more in common with this leica killer.

Vivitar 35mm Camera™ that anyone can operate is so easy to use and takes beautiful pictures too!

Then I will pick up a k-r for the second body.

I'm fairly sure it has been that price on Amazon for a while.

Why do I post here (even in this thread) if exactly the same information is then cited from elsewhere? This was my post:

The Pentax press release embargo date is Monday Sep 20 4pm CEST (which is 10am EDT I think). However, the Photokina press tour is Sep 20 10am CEST for German journalists and the few German journalists w/o NDA could start reporting right afterwards. The Intn'l Photokina press tour starts after lunch though. The Photokina officially opens the day after, Sep 21.

Moreover, I can confirm that Pentax will bring a K-5 to Cologne. So, prototypes do exist but that's a known fact anyway.
Besides the announcement time, I additionally disclosed that some writers will be able to beat the official announcement date by about 5 hours.

What forum feature is this? Anyway ISO can be marketed arbitrarily high.

First, Pentax applies RAW NR to ISO above 1600 which is a pitty because newer sensors won't need it and an ISO claim as high as this tells me that they continue the practice. Second, even at ISO 819.200, the images don't turn out black. So, marketing can label their cameras with any ISO below one million they want. It's just another int in a firmware array ...

And 50k just corresponds to the 100k practice with newer FF/APS-H cameras (e.g., the 1DmkIV). So, I was wondering anyway

A real innovation would be hardware binning and a bit of software in video and offering ISO 100k in video which then still would look rather noise free. Video in 720p at ISO 102.400 would look like a 100% crop at ISO 6400. Add a bit of temporal noise reduction and you would get almost noise free video at ISO 102.400. That would be worth a "what if" post ...

Huh? If the newer sensors won't need it, Pentax won't do it (or they'll start at e.g. ISO25600).

Any content between "HIDE" tags cannot be seen by forum guests, only by registered members.

There is a script which converts "hidden" content into the "Hidden content may not be quoted" message.

Makes sense, but I wonder why the ISO 51200 message was hidden as this seems to be an old rumour by now.
