OTOH it is an upgrade of any things....
Now, if there were new things in the K-5, I am convinced we'd see many posts stating that "pentax should not have included these gadgetty things, they should simply have made ugrades on the K-7.."
We know its and upgrade of K-7. But If Pentax put all the revolutionary things they have as per there Patents. We, who does not have that money cannot buy it. some of us will upgrade to K-7 since some will sell there K-7 and those who can afford will buy K-5. Let's just be content with what Pentax gives at of this moment. i believe they will take care of their supporter and consumers.

Photography is an expensive hobby or expensive for those who invest as part to earn a living.

The K-5 looks very inviting as an upgrade to my K-10D. Waiting to read final specs and some reviews. Am especially interested on what Falk has to say on "shutter-induced blur" with the K-5. Hope Pentax was listening!

I can say with near certainty that Pentax AF will never, ever, come to be on par with Canon AF.
I have a strong opinion that the perception Pentax AF accuracy/speed compared to the competition is much lower than reality, specialy in lower end models

I'm not really prepared to comment on the K5 until I see the 'Official' Press Release.

The Spec sheet that came out this morning has errors in it and it seems that it is an unfinished working copy based on the K7 (already mentioned by a member in this thread).

With so many inconsistencies we can banter these specs around all day, but tomorrow will be the day that we will really know what is coming out.

The only facts that I know for sure are

1. There is a K5 Camera (seen the photos of the front and back, but not the sides) using a new Sony Chip and there are some claimed improvements over auto focus and

2 There is also a new WR lens 18-135 being released.

That's about all the specs that I feel comfortable with believing right now.

Hey buddy, I dropped my crystal ball in the bay a couple of weeks ago and can't see the upcoming "specs" at all.

I guess I'll have to take the radical step of waiting to learn what the specs actually are, what the price will actually be, what the camera's AF actually does and what the sensor actually delivers. Radical, I know, but there's no other way now that my crystal ball is 15 feet under.

Falk, is there any chance one of the "shutter-induced blur" investigation team members will get hold of a K-5 in the foreseeable future?

But what can "DC" possibly be???
In Sigma world it would mark a non-FF APS-C lens, is Pentax differentiating future lenses to FF and APS-C?

EDIT: Looks like this already discussed here:

Pentax is Doomed!

if the K5 doesn't have more than 11 AF points, Pentax is doomed
if the K5 doesn't have more than 8 RAW shot buffer, Pentax is doomed
if the K5 doesn't have significantly better AF, Pentax is doomed
if the K5 doesn't have dual SD cards, Pentax is doomed
if the K5 doesn't have 1/250 or faster flash sync, Pentax is doomed

hmmm... what else?

in any case, my money is still on the K5.

how many more hours?

It's not about how many units each sells. The thing is Pentax flagships (K10D, K20D & K-7) used to be compared with Nikons in a higher class (D200, D300 & D300s) and Nikons in that class were always more expensive. Now they are compared to a consumer camera from Nikon which is apparently less expensive. This makes it harder to sell to the people who do not already have K lenses. For the people who own some lenses and are happy with them I do not see any issue. They cam decide when (price-wise) they want to upgrade or just continue using their staff; nothing is really changed!

Sure, the fork. The fork is a proven design. No need to improve really. But a camera? Please. There is much that could be done to revolutionize the market. But like I said, I have no idea how they could do it, just that they should.
I know how they do it. Pentax should include a fork with every purchase.
