It's hard to tell from a spec sheet if the image quality and AF will be improved over the K-7 and by how much. However, if they both are, that will mean that the K-5 will be improved over the K-7 in every significant area that goes into taking photos besides the viewfinder.

Higher resolution? Check
Better frame rate? Check
Better High ISO performance? Check
Better autofocus? Check
Bonus: Better movie mode? Check

All this in the same body as the K-7. That doesn't seem like an incremental update to me, and I love my K-7. The K20D versus the K10D, now that was an incremental upgrade.

From a gadgeteer's perspective, though, I guess I could see how the camera could be disappointing. None of the technology is wowie zowie groundbreaking, it's just a better utilization of existing technology than the K-7.

For whoever speaks german, what does this mean:

"100% Prismensucher mit 4 unterschiedlichen Einstellscheiben"

I'm sure this is referring to the additional ground glass screens, one of which is standard; the other 3 are optional (see the first page of the specsheet with pictures of the optional screens).

Priyantha, why didn't you post these here like you did on the Dutch forum? I think there are many readers able to read German.

I'm personally not so sure about the specsheet because of the apparent SAFOX version error and some of the wording, but we'll see tomorrow

Looks like K-7 super.

K-r has SAFOX IX
K-5 has SAFOX VIII+....

It's strange. The mistake of 2 page of specs. First page shows 9+.

ISO12,800 also requires 6 digits, and it would be unthinkable for the K-5 not to be able to do that. They'll find a way to display the info ;-)
I don't understand why 12800, 25600 and 51200 requires 6 digits and not 5?!

Yes, that's the big question.

I see that there are several features which originate from the 645D (such as the 3D level function) and the AF should be the same as both the 645D and K-r, so maybe they could keep the prce the same or not much higher than the K-7. Maybe they can even make it a D7000 killer

You can do bracketing via RAW Button!
So, the whining was heard ...

And the level is "3D" now.
And more "noise-control" options.

It seems to me K10D-K20D upgrade...Not D7000 killer.

It's more interesting to see the review than naked specs. But K-r as upgrade of K-x/K-m is more powerful...

That would be unfair. I went from the K10D to the K20D to the K-7 and I wouldn't want to touch a K20D or K10D after I got the K-7. It's a MUCH better camera than you would expect from the specs alone.

Maybe you should stay with your K200D, it's "good enough" for you.

K10D-K20D was a good step, now K7 - K5 is a good step, too.
ISO to 12.800 is very good. Remember K7 was 3200.
