I dont imagine the shooter in the video is shooting in RAW with such a small RAW buffer. what is the final word on that?

Wow the AF speed looks good on the video. Might not be the best in the market but Pentax definitely has been working hard to make this very competitive.

DPreview states: 17RAW @ 7FPS
Pentax K-5 Preview: 2. Specifications: Digital Photography Review

I suspect the 8 RAW buffer is with 14bit mode.
Which is right in line with other prosumer camera's(D300/700 etc).

It looks like we will have a lottery: one version of K-5 with 15 RAW buffer and another with 8 RAW buffer

I haven't read anywhere that there's an actual choice between 12bit and 14bit though.

Either way we are in good hands.
However if the unit can provide 17, 14Bit RAW files at 7FPS, then we have one heck of a system on our hands(better than any of the competition in fact). But my guess is that it can be toggled like on other camera's

They speak about 14bit RAW a bit in this official video:

Only one thing lacking with pentax compared to the big two was AF speed. now with K-5 Pentax would give canikons a run for its money. competition is a good thing.

The official K-5 page states the IsO is expandable upto ISO 12800 and certainly not ISO 51200. The normal iso range is 100-6400.

That certainly is not what was expected.

See: http://www.pentaxdslr.com/slr/K-5/

Several other sources mention 51200... Some omit ISO 80 in the expanded range. This release is definitely a bit of a mess.

ugh, that AF-C video may not be so telling. notice with the K-5 there is NO AF confirmation sound.
according to Imaging Resource's preview:

"Perhaps most importantly, though, Pentax has added the ability to select the priority for single and continuous focus modes. For single AF, K-5 users can opt for either focus priority, which mirrors the K-7's behaviour in requiring an AF lock before the shutter can fire, or shutter-release priority, which starts exposure immediately that the shutter button is fully depressed, even if an AF lock hasn't been achieved. In continuous AF mode, the options are focus priority, or frame rate priority. The former requires an AF lock for each individual frame in the burst, while the latter replicates the K-7's behaviour by emphasising frame rate for each shot in the burst, even if this means a lock can't be achieved for individual frames in the burst."

with no confirmation sound like the K-7, it was obviously set to frame rate priority. who knows how many frames of that AF-C video are actually in focus.
