Still, I really, really, with they would have brought back the bracketing and SR buttons!
The RAW button now is a multi-purpose button. It can be programmed to do things other than selecting the RAW format. "Exposure bracketing" is one of the options.

And the RAW buffer is 8 frames if we believe the official specs from Pentax Europe AND America.
From the OFFICIAL source(pentax.jp/english !):
Max. 7.0 fps, JPEG (16M: at Continuous Hi): up to 22 frames, RAW: up to 8 frames
Max. 2.0 fps, JPEG (16M: at Continuous Lo): until SD Memory Card is full, RAW: up to 12 frames
SAFOX IX+, 11 point (9 cross type focus points in the center)

BUT if I believe the google translation of the Japanese version on Pentax.jp it is:
up to approximately 7.0 frames / sec, JPEG (16M: ★ ★ ★): up to 30 frames, RAW (PEF): up to about 08 frames, RAW (DNG): up to approximately 8 frames
(2) up to approximately 1.6 frames / sec, JPEG (16M: ★ ★ ★): to fill space on the card, RAW (PEF): up to 10 frames, RAW (DNG): up to 10 frames

Strange....

BTW, where is the wired remote control plug-in on the K-5.

It is above the video out on my K20D.
It is on the other side of the K-5 (and this is the same on the K-7).

As weather-resistance is a huge feature of the K-series and the WR lenses, it seems a tad odd that their is no provision for replacement/repair of potentially-affected equipment at minimal/zero-cost to a photog. I know my D700 was weather-resistant, my old 1D2 was weather-resistant, and the 60D is claimed to be weather-resistant, so I'm confused when I read on here that the main advantage of the new K-5 compared to its competition is weather-resistance. I have a hard time including a feature that has not been comparatively evaluated or warrantied.
None of them offer this service... In very dark beginning, when pentax was not sealed the only more or less affordable optin was Oly. I asked specifically about this and they said "no"
Main reason is that is is very hard for warranty if you have a system that is wide open to all elemenst when you change lenses.

Is there an independent lab that has conducted WR tests to say whether camera "A" is better/worse than camera "B" in this regard??
I very much doubt it, Just like my first remark, you must never forget that a sealed kit is competely unsealed when you are switching lenses.

Thanks for sharing!

These look way better than the first samples from the K-7. AA filter doesn't seem to be too strong (call me crazy if you like by judging this from these small samples).

Tonal shades don't seem to be quite as smooth as from the A900 but that was perhaps a bit too much to expect. I spot ever so slight posterization, e.g., in image #8 around the lamps. Perhaps/Hopefully that's just an issue of the output format or some levels adjustment. One would hope that 14bit looked smoother. But overall, these look very promising.

I doubt it would increase the dynamic range, but rather just allow more shades between, removing rounding errors and increasing the kind of micro/local contrast you can get, which is great.
It will help a lot to avoid banding in post processing and it will probably give you more effective dynamic range in careful post processing with the right software as well (DXO optics for instance).
In my experience the K100D was better for b&w landscapes than the K20D/K7, they are pretty blotchy/noisy in the blue channel.

I don't think I will get the K-5 though I expect it will be a great camera. I will wait another 1-2 years to see if Pentax will introduce a FF at an affordable price. If not I may jump ship to a different brand. Given the big improvements in APS-C I think the next generation of FF sensors will be awesome. And given the high ISO performance increases across the board I hope the next things that will become big selling points will be increased dynamic range and color depth.
