Photozone, lenstip and others have tested this lens and feel it doesn't better the original kit 18-55 and found it's price/performance ratio wanting.

Pentax came late to the party with this lens with Nikon bringing their 18-135 out as a kit to the D80.

Even though it's now considered old the Nikon lens which is cheaper, is optically much better.

The 4 stars given by other sites is mainly for the Pentax's construction

Chasseur d'images said it is pretty ok as expected for such lens. But expensive of course.
