I really dislike lentils. Can I have it in another legume, please?

But seriously, folks, Estonian "lääts" may be lens or lentil, according to Fred's on-line Estonian dictionary and home town recipe site.

De-Coupled, as in focus ring doesn't spin during AF.

Just another guess, along with my darker idea:

I only have one SDM lens: the SMC Pentax-DA* 55mm F1.4 SDM. And it does exactly what you describe. There's a distance scale, but the ring continues to turn when you reach either end (albeit less smooth than in the middle of the scale).
As does DA14 and that one isn't SDM.

So it's just normal "quick shift". Then they should have used "QS" in the lens name

I continue to learn new things. I think that settles it that DC cannot be for this. Likely, it is for the SDM system itself. There is still an outside chance it is for something else, like step-less aperture for video (eg. discrete control; digital control, dynamic control).

That's it! "DC" must stand for "Delicious Cuisine!" Finally, we can cook our lens in case of emergency! Thank you, Japan.

It's too late for that now.... But Adam's and other's knowledge of the lens makes it certain it will be announced. The only things we really don't know (besides the Discussion Continuer) are the size, weight, price, and filter diameter.

The filter diameter is going to have to be pretty large to fit all of the acronyms in!

lens barrel, compared to lens mount seems significantly wider than 18-55mm WR(i can'tcompare to 50-200) , i guess they just decided to give the lens the same styling as the 18-55mm wr and 50-200mm wr

This doesn't look like photoshop magic to me:

SMC Pentax-DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 ED AL [IF] DC WR Lens Reviews - Pentax Lens Review Database

Rather, it is a nice looking lens, compact for its range!
