About the SR efficiency: it would require a lab test which are time consuming because of various focal length/exposure time combinations to be studied. But if you read my Understanding Image Sharpness white paper, you know everything to find out yourself

The HDR alignment seems to work very well. I did a test and can't see any induced blur. I'll write a bit about it in a forthcoming K-5 blog article. It now has 4 rather than 2 magnitudes and an additional auto magnitude. Still doesn't support RAW though.

Thanks, especially for HDR update, that sounds good for entry-level users (a pitty on the no RAW support though - but for the experts there are of course workarounds...).

I will for sure search for your "Understanding Image Sharpness" white paper, but price / compactness will probably influence my decision most either way.
- In the future Pentax might even consider to utilize both in-camera and in-lens at the same time (but that will require more lens to body communication).

Let me try a couple of other questions (at this moment personally not very interested in 3D, u43 EVF, nor Fuij OVF solution with parallax either way):

• Is K-r intended to replace K-x, will the K-x stay, slowly simple run out of production or shall we soon see a replacement of the K-x (that is more compact than K-r, so probably high resolution 2.7" LCD instead of 3" (preferably of course with focus assist beam))?
• Besides working on high ISO performance, is Pentax also working on ISO below 100 (including increased effective dynamic range within one shot)?
• Wait, probably you over looked my 35 mm F2.4 question, are they going to position that as a price attractive kit lens icw K-r body only? Or also K-5 / K-x? Or just as seperately lens (this last one seems to be the case currently...)?

looks pretty clean, which is a very good thing because I often run into ISO settings of 800 and above for fast moving wildlife and that has normally been the territory of my Nikon D3S. It's such a good thing Pentax stuck with the same body as the K-7, with that kind of High Iso performance i'll be glad I don't have to lug around my D3 so often....now all pentax needs is a 400mm f/2.8 APO IF ED

I am impressed. Subjectively, this seems to match ISO 1600 on the K-7.

At the booth of Pentax is shown test print of still life at ISO6400 (from K-5)....
My question - are there good big colours prints from ISO100?

Is the main purpose of camera is to shoot still life in the low light at ISO6400 without tripod and flash?

As for me it indicates the idiocy of marketers and the victory of marketing and high ISO madness over common sense.

IQ will degrade in any case at high ISO (no any miracles at APS-C),
yes, it could be better than previous cameras, but it's choice between TWO bad pictures.

Did you change the WB settings?
If I leave WB at "As shot" then it looks different from your image.

The top left corner of the chart has a greenish tinge if I leave WB at "As shot" and reduce "Brightness" to "0" rather than the default "

EDIT: If I manually choose 2900K for the WB and set the tint to "0", I get the same colour balance as you do (in an exported JPG that is. Inside LR it looks slightly different. I guess this is due to the perceptual colour space mapping that occurs between ProPhoto RGB and sRGB).

I did set the WB to auto and that leads to 2850 and 0 tint.

Just curious: What would you use high ISO bulb for? (On my K10D even ISO 200 quickly gets useless for super long exposures, so I try to use only ISO 100)

That is indeed super cool, but I would have preferred to not have my kids fly through the air so fast (or I should do some manual panning), so for me it would be better if the focus would have stayed on the guy throwing the ball or the one trying to hit it.
- But when? By the time Pentax is bought out of business by Nikon maybe?
- People that want this from a camera should go for a Nikon!

How much of AF speed is actually due to camera and how much do to lens?
