DA* 11-16/2.8. NOW.

I bought the 12-24/4 as a stop gap, but found I need to go a bit wider and f2.8 for what I do.

Actually, the 12-24 is a disappointment - the focus ring is not terribly smooth and it has one less aperture blade than the Tokina. And it's length varies by 5mm, unlike the Tokina, which is better built and stays constant.

Not a good lens, mechanically, but the IQ is passable. I might get rid of it and get the Siggy 10-20/3.5, or alternatively buy a used Nikon D90 to use the Tokina 11-16.

I guess I'm just venting, but the Pentax lens availability and lack of roadmap is getting rather frustrating. This lens situation is not acceptable.
I agree, while I can understand the two lenses that were introduced may have a larger target market. I was hoping for a DA* 11-16 F2.8 ...I have stuck with the DA* lenses and never had any problem with SDM as some have reported.

sorely disappointed.

Im much more enjoying the announcements of friends systems. Nikonians for instance really have some stuff to be excited about.

Not a lot more, not just Photokina. Pnetax has released a number of lenses each year. They seem to lag this year. I think it is safe to say that the 645D project gobbled up a lot of resources.

Well I was at the Photokina and the Pentax stand was relatively smaal compared to some other brands. But the interest of visitors was good and that counts. I was at the Samsung stand, wich was enormus but no interest for their products from visitors.

The Pentax boot had some to offer, not a lot, but nice nwe products.

K-r with the 35mm lens
K-5 with the 18-135mm lens
645D with the D-FA 55mm lens

You may call this nothing or dissapointing, I say it's a good deal for a small brand!

Actually, besides Pentax and Fuji, they are the only ones to be really excited....
Top 3 of `excited`people is
1- Nikonians
2- Fujinese
3- Pentaxians

I dontīthink that is too bad a score for a small company like Pentax.

sealed wide fast prime would have been nice.
And pentax needs to make the most in one of the APS fields where it really shines, especially now they have the 18-135 WR, a cheaper WR dslr (but I assume they donīt want to compete that with K-5 and the K-7 as long as that one is readily available)

I hoped they would mention when the TC prototype was going to be un-tabled. While I would have preferred a DA 28/2.4 based on the F 28/2.8 lens, I think the DA 35/2.4 lens is going to turn out to be quite good optically at a very good price. Its hard for me to get too excited about a zoom lens. The K-5 and K-r are very good cameras by all appearances so I don't think Pentax came out bad overall. However, they did boondoggle their announcements and releases on their specs.
