I am guessing why Nik-in is holding D1 name too but that would be too much speculation, like lot more than a traditional FF camera.
Well, Nikon D1 is an old camera, the name is not on hold at all.

There was the D1, then the D2, and now the D3. You see, it's simpe: 1, 2 and 3.

So it's like D1-3 like F-1,2,..5 from Nikon , I meant D-1 name still on hold by Nikon - my mediumship. We'll see.

5 and 7 are prime numbers too. Prime sounds better than odd
True, but i was referring to every manufacturer. Er I meant odd digits. D7000, D5000, D3100, D90, D300, D3, 1D, 5D, 7D, 550D, 500D, A550, A55, A33, E-5, E-510, NX100, X100, SD1, etc.

60D is the only one that has an even digit other than 0. Or I guess you can count the GH2.

I don't understand why odd numbers are more favorable on camera marketing? Human psychology? just because 1 is an add number? a curse on even numbers? a K-4 on my hands would be sexier than K-5, but its just me.

The numbering is actually negative numbers so -5 > -7

K-7, K-5, K-3, K-1, K+1, K+3, K+5, K+7, ...

"4" is considered to be an unlucky number in many Asian cultures. Apparently, as with 13th floors here, many buildings go from 3rd to 5th.

Wow, superstitious beliefs huh? somehow that reminded me the conversation between Sheldon and Peggy in Big Bang Theory:

Leonard: So, tell us about you.
Penny: Um, me? Okay - I'm a Sagittarius, which probably tells you way more than you need to know.
Sheldon: Yes - it tells us that you participate in the mass cultural delusion that the sun's apparent position relative to arbitrarily defined constellations at the time of your birth somehow affects your personality.

I didn't bother with predictions, since once it became even slightly clear that it would be just another APS-C offering, it wasn't remotely interesting to me. The price being what it is, I suspect most of the APS-C Pentax fans who want high end APS-C cameras and lenses, but at the same time bitch about the price of everything, will simply let the K5 languish on store shelves until the price comes down.

True, it would have been nice if the K-5 were a 22 MP full-frame with the same specs, but I think that considering its excellent high-iso performance, I think it's nevertheless going to be considered among the best APS-C DSLRs out there. Pentax delivered what most people wanted: overhauled AF, improved high-iso performance, and gimmicky full-HD video.

Once the price falls to $1399, people will be all over it (that fall might well be before it even starts shipping, once retailers start getting their stock).
