The K-5 sounds even quieter than the K-7!

And I thought the K-7 was quiet! These videos are by the same poster as the live view af test. You can hear the single shot of each after the buffer seems full (around 8-9 seconds in). I'm impressed...

You dont need golden ears to hear that the sound differs alot in the videos. The sound in the k-7 video has more low mid freq and the k-5 more high. Just listen to the back ground noise in the beginning of the videos. That will also affect the video cameras built in compressor/limiter different. You can't tell that much from this IMO.

I think you're right.
The K-5 does sound even quieter.

PS. I adjusted both sounds tracks in Cubase to match and the K-5 has a much denser(less hollow) sound than the K-7.

Yes, I suspected there might be volume/tonality differences, but I played with the volume while playing to match as close as I could. I think there is at least a subtle difference, like JohnBee mentioned. Something a little less metallic and more damped. Hopefully there will be something to it.

K-5 and K-7 have equal shutter sound

I compared K-5 and K-7 side by side in real life.

No distinguishable diference. According to my ears and that of several others around me.

Gentlemen, we have now crossed the ubergeek threshold...

Is it my imagination, or are these K-5 articles starting to get obsessive?

It would be interesting if the K-5 were quieter, which could well be. But since the video was designed to record FPS, and even very small changes in environment or equipment can make substantial differences in audio recording, I'm not convinced that they sound different. My guess is that the K-7 recorded the K-5 video, and vice versa, and something to do with that causes the different sounds.

Aslo, I would imagine the different frame rates will make the K5 "seem" quietier to some ears simply because the noise from the K5 is more uniform with less "quiet" time between shots....as in the higher FPS the less jaring (noisy/loud) each individual click will seem.

Wild, I thought it might be the same. Hadn't thought that they would improve it. I was shooting a baptism earlier this month, I could for sure use a quieter shutter
