I have seen a Tamron 70-200 macro on eBay with a Pentax mount. There is probably one still on eBay.
Thanks all the same for the tip but that lens doesn't cut it. I need a Macro, in that 150-'ish' range (to supplement a T.90 also 1:1).

Already have a good "pseudo"-Macro in a 17-70 walkaround zoom, which does better at 43% anyway.
Oh and another Siggy zoom too that does 1:2 (50%) -- but they can't compete with a versatile crisp 1:1.

So, is this official: this lens will come in K-mount?

Official: yes.
Bullet-proof: no. Sigma can always change their mind.

I think you are referring to the Non-OS version. the OS version in the Sigma US website didn't indicate any mount compatibility yet.

A shame really, neither version of the 150 macro has mention of Pentax mount.

So I take it that it is now official that this lens might never be available for Pentax mount! :ugh:

Never rule out never is the only safe bet in this game.

But judging on Sigma's typical vapourware announcement habits, then even Canikonites might grow old before they see light through an OS 150.

eg. Their 85/1.4 announced several months ago (at same time as the 8-16 IIRC), that instantly collected much sought after interest; and still hasn't been rolled out for Nikon mount at least - on Nov 5, 2010 they said "soon" (don't know about Canon).

Maybe a more disturbing trend though is Sigmas shift to putting their OS in a lot of their line up, and phasing out the old non OS equivalents.
That not only makes the lenses much bulkier, but also adds a huge price-premium that many people might not want either.

Esp Pentax owners who have in-body anti-shake anyway, and content with it being a more adequate compromise - on balance - for certain lens types and their application.

Just as concerning is that upgraded lenses like that one, are sometimes found to perform lower in their more expensive OS/VC/VR/IS re-released version (Tamron 17-50 is a good example, the cheaper non-T.VC is recommended for its sharpness by most users).

Another is the recent Sigma 17-70, in adding OS, it lost some of it's very useful close focusing capacity.

I personally don't like such trade offs when they restrict my choices, and cost me $$$$ more.

So definitely won't be holding breath for a 150 Macro in P.K-mount.

And Tamron has dropped K-mount so that option from a competitor is ruled out.

Thanks Hypocorism for the heads up! As far as I am concerned, they can disable the vibration reduction feature for Pentax mounts in the lens and maybe that would save a few $$$. I also read that this new lens is weather resistant. I will keep watching for more news.

Late May / Early June (but I doubt it - probably September for Europe)
Price for EU is 1299 euros.
Nowhere near the "sub $1000" everyone speculated about. Hopefully it will be well worth it's money.

As I have mentioned before, Sigma will eventually release all of its current lenses for the Pentax platform (with a possible exception for some Sigma-mount exclusives). Some will take time, some will become available when their next version is developed...

I won't hesitate to get one for $1200. too bad the Non-OS version is not available for the K-mount. could had saved $500-$600 off the bat. but anyways, if it were available for the Pentax , it might had killed some of the sales of the 100mm macro.

Oh no,... I will be tempted by Sigma's 800mm lens. I love the Sigma 500mm F4.5.
