You bet, including the continuous AF video, the only problem with this model, there is only kit lens attached is available at the moment. But I heard limiteds will be available for nano-K mount anytime soon.

Hope it doesn't have annoying pop-up flash during focussing in low light...

Hilarious thread. BTW, they're going to be on sale via the Pentax online store in October for \200.

Does it do anything useful? Af assist? Simple LED illumination for video? Direct viewing action aiming aid? Distance/range finder? Bubble level? Flash sync transmitter.. ..whatever..
For 200 yen? I doubt it..

just out of curiosity, why doesn"t any maker use a laser rangefinder system to assist the autofocus systems? I know of several laser measurement systems that are accurate to fractions of an inch at hundreds of feet that could perhaps be used to speed up the existing AF systems.

I've used laser rangefinders for distance measurement work before, and they are extremely accurate, but the minimum measurable distance for the best commercial equipment is currently 8 metres or about 8 yards.
Any shorter distance and the travel time for the reflected beam becomes impossibly fast for the electronics to measure.
I'm sure there are equipment with shorter minimum ranges, but they tend to be laboratory-grade gear, or restricted high-end stuff "military".

So its not practical for general photography.

The Sonar system works great till you try to shoot through windows and glass doors.

I love these little guys. I'd take one in a heartbeat. Makes a great alternative to the boring standard shoe protector.

But of course, just like the K-x Rainbow people seem to think that Pentax will be unable to improve its cameras because it's devoting so much of its resources to this. Come on, people. I wish Pentax's North American advertising was as good.

I wonder how many little kids will remember the name "Pentax" when they get old enough to look at cameras.

Sonar? Are you serious?

Now I know why Polaroid went out of business... they innovated, but maybe a little too much!
