Pentax K-5 wins Photokina STAR award

Saw this over at dpreview.

Here's the translated bit from the press release:

Pentax K-5
The new top model in the Pentax DSLR series brings all the hallmarks of a high-quality digital SLR. An external feature of the high claim is the dust-and splash-proof magnesium alloy case. With impressive 7 frames / s K-5 meets the needs of sports and action photographers. The 16.3 megapixel CMOS sensor records request HDR images directly into the camera.

Congrats, Pentax!

Well that's impressive.

Let's hope Pentax marketing takes full advantage of this achievement.

Looks like the Pentax couple may be back in the broom cupboard sooner than they thought.

And that's a good thing - but it seems to me that the tide of negativity is starting to turn (knock on wood)

The Nikon D7000 was notably NOT named among the 12 illustrious products receiving the award

People bashing the K-5 and complaining that Photokina's award means nothing in 3, 2, 1... go!

A better translation from the press release and an elementary German speaker

Pentax K-5

The new top model in the Pentax DSLR series brings with it all the hallmarks of a high-quality digital SLR. An apparent feature of its lofty claims is the dust-and splash-proof magnesium alloy case. With an impressive 7 frames/sec, the K-5 meets the needs of sports and action photographers. The 16.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor records optional HDR images directly in the camera.

You lost me here, Mike. If you don't mind, I'd appreciate an explanation, even in form of PM.

did they manage to pull another K10D? As far as I'm concerned that was the last serious camera that created some waves... Let's hope K-5 will do at least as good...
anyway, good to hear that they got award for it!

Yes theoretically possible.

With 4 K-5s, two beam splitters and a lot of time, computing power and software
