First steps to offer FF system.:ugh:
1. Put 2 old PRIME 2 processors to the body.
2. SONY 24 MP sensor
3. The same menus, controls and functions as in K-5.
4. Redesign K-5 body.
5. Redesign in WR DC version THREE old lenses -
FA20-35/4 (still in production, by the way), 28-70/2.8 and 80-200/2.8
6.....????
First of all why does it have to be cheap. We know Pentaxians are a cheap bunch, but going cheap is what sunk the A900/A850.
1: Put in 2 newer processors, one just isn't enough. Look at the K7/K5. Both have too low a burst length and take forever to render anything.
2: Sony 12-16mp sensor. We need more speed and high ISO, not more mp.
3: This should be standard across the entire Pentex line with small modifications in each model.
4: Too small. If you want to go cheap then redesign the K20 body with a larger viewfinder/mirror box, and make it out of magnesium, make the grip integrated and put the buttons for ISO, wb, etc there with a small screen. I would like to see a new larger body made, but still with the integrated grip. Using the K20 design would save a little on R&D.
5: Make standard 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8 lenses. These are the big sellers when it comes to full frame lenses and outsell all the others. This will cost money to make so Pentax could work with a company like Sigma or Tamron to produce these rebadged as Pentax. They could also just make the lenses themselves, but until that is ramped up the 3rd party stuff is already available.
6: Dual CF slots. SD is too slow to handle the info going into it at a fast burst rate.
