Some K-r high ISO JPEG samples

I noticed this thread on the Manual Focus lenses forum. One of the members is in Kyoto and had a chance to play with the K-r in a shop. I think the high-ISO capabilities in JPEG of the K-r are pretty impressive.

Looks good.
Perhaps very close to the K-5.
But with JPG, it is very hard to tell what we are looking at.
Any chance we could get our hands on some RAW samples?

Those look superb to me. Even the 25,000 looks usable in a pinch. This sensor will finally convince me to upgrade the ol' K100d.

I find the pics very similar to those taken with the K5 a while back.
Those are JPEG's and it would have been nice to see some RAW samples.

This is a tricky situation with "to be owners" of the K5, including myself: is this going to be another round of the lesser camera giving more ISO punch than its big brother? (remember the K7 vs. Kx ISO thing?).
I know .... I have seen many sample shots taken with the K5 and they are really promising.

But, I am still very impressed with the "lesser camera" ... again.

I don't think it's bad news if the K-r performs that well. If the K-r really outperforms the K-5 at its price point, judging from what the preliminary results we've seen from the K-5, that will make for a pretty incredible camera at an affordable price.

sorry, they are not my shots and are made with protofirmware.

Good, I've always liked the grain from the K-7. In some situations I just wish there was less of it. I hope that's where the K-5 comes in handy

I don't think they're going to mess that up again.

Wow that's NR set to OFF? Looks better than what my K-x produces.

Do you think the K-r may be sold brand new as "body only?"

Although I kinda expect that it will be only offered as a kit. And if it does have the LiveView "auto zoom" feature like that on the K-5, that would be great!

Wow, I didn't realize it was NR OFF. It has to have NR.. no way it has zero chroma noise.
