It's funny how UK and US got their K-5s already on the other side of the globe but not us.... even though we are closer to Philippines where the bodies are made....

I agree and have mentioned this elsewhere.... I got my K-7 soon after release date and before it was available in a lot of the USA states.

there waiting for the aussie dollar to go up so they can make more profit, whereas the US and pound must be falling, so they want to sell there quick!

They may be waiting a while for the US$ to strengthen...

We may have to buy from the US ourselves and put up with the customs duty if it's strung out too long - and it will *still* be cheaper...

Digidirect are now listing a body-only price for the K-5 of AUD1,679.00.
I've updated the price list on p-1.

Agree the apprenticeship is over and time for some fun.. K5 here I come.. Don't think I will be holding out till prices drop! (Not in Australia anyway)

K7 is still over $1100 most places, and agree that the close to $1600 with the AUD being strong should be enough to make my move sooner...

I just called Camera Action in Melbourne and they said they were looking at receiving stock in the last week of November, but didn't have a final price yet. Oh, the suspense.

I have seen the pricing that retailers have been given from Kennedy's, it was released last week and depending on the markup from the retailer, prices should be between $1600-1700 for the body only

That makes the flash around $40-50 compared with the lowest price around (I'm not counting Vanbar at the moment while they leave the gate open). Does anyone have good/bad experience with this flash? It probably would be useful (though I'm planning on doing lots of no-flash low light photography with the K-r )

Any idea if we will also get a rebate like Europe and US?

I really really want this camera, but hoping to pay below $1500.
