DC motor tech from Tokina? Tokina and Pentax relationship?

Tokina is already selling 12-24/4 second gen with a "DC motor", and the new 16-28/2.8 has DC motor as well. This motor tech could be from Tokina.

So pentax and tokina, who is doing what??

Anyway, they are both Hoya.
what makes me not happy is that tokina lens series is almost same as pentax mid-high end. the optical structures are exactly the same for Tokina version 16-50, 50-135, M35, M100, 12-24, 10-17 fisheye, and maybe DFA100.

Canikons could buy Tokina version pentax lens at a lower price than Pentax version. The glass material and designs are the same.(from a previous interview) and I think buy great chance that pentax lens are made by Tokina now.

new turn of absurd speculation

Tokina is not HOYA. HOYA doesn't own Tokina. 95% of patents for lenses which Tokina makes are Pentax's patents and from HOYA glass.
Pentax has TWO optical plants in Vietnam. Tokina is rather small company, smaller than photo division of HOYA.

this means that tokina do not have optical R&D and that's impossible. there must be a couple of lenses in the common between tokina and pentax is designed by tokina. they shoule be cooperating

my point is that, the DC motor is from tokina, then what is the pentax R&D is doing?

does the tokina allow for quick-shift?

the pentax 18-135 mentions that you can override the AF at any time.

What about Pentax developed this motor and patented Tokina to try his type of focusing method on the market?

It's much more likely in my opionion that both Tokina and Pentax are sourcing their DC motors from the same third party. Or, not even from the same party, but they both have simply decided to keep calling it a "DC motor" instead of something fancier. Let's not get carried away here....

I certainly do and was about to bring it up.

This ongoing Tokina-Hoya-Pentax-etc. thing is getting a bit old to be dragged out again.

In regard to shift to MF, Tokina says that you push/pull the focus ring forward/backward to engage/disengage AF/MF. I'm sure I have that backwards someplace but you get the idea.

Not at all like Pentax "Just turn it until you like it" Quick Shift.

They may both use direct current but I don't see anything of importance there.
