Both cilps are terrific, though I suppose Pentax is stuck with 'be interesting', which must be, for lack of a better word, one of the least 'interesting' slogans ever.

Would you prefer, "Delighting you always"?

Why is Pentax focusing so much on it's Optio line ? Are they making so much money on them compared to the DSLR and lenses line ?

Because in my opinion their DSLR are a lot more competitive than their Optios who are not that great compared to other compacts. On the other hand K-5 and K-r are one if not the best DSLR in their class, as well as K-x and K-7 were, and I didn't see any good commercials for them. Ok the new K-r commercial is OK , but not something to remember.

Why Pentax cannot make a good K-5 commercial that would be breathtaking ? Put in rain, snow, water, send it in space, make something that will leave the audience with their mouth open.

I suppose there's a flaw there: 'Interesting' just isn't something you can buy, never mind be told to 'Be.'

Better, perhaps?

"We know you're interesting. We made you a camera."

As for this:

The SLR market has *never* been one you could TV-advertise *to.* You can't impress *us* without boring the hec out of everyone else. Compacts are different. Most people take a celebrity's 'word' on it.

Fact is, if we were impressed by advertising in that way, we wouldn't *be* here, right?

The W90 is very competitive in its class, as far as the Optios go (though I didn't like it much, personally, when I reviewed it).

Yeah, well, I dunno. I might appreciate your reviews at some point: in the future I would like to get my sweetie something: in that event, small, brightly-colored, a bit neglectable, and weatherproof might be just the equation. (With good 'macro,' hopefully: similar interface I can describe over the phone would be just gravy. ) If it was just for me, I'd be like, 'That Fuji quasi-rangefinder! That's little! Never mind! Voigtlander! Never mind, I'm bringing the Mamiya! '

Everything's maybe got a place.
