I am betting Pentax is listening and we will see a WR 55-300 before long. I don't have this lens but am always impressed by the photos it produces and the very moderate price of the lens.
I don't personally need WR...I never go out in the rain.....it just plays hell with my hair! But the dust it helps keep out is very useful.

No rain for me!

Best Regards!

It sounds like the WR 55-300 would make a great match with the WR 18-135 as you'd have a versatile lens with either with some overlap, but not too much.

Now what about a WR version of the DA 12-24? Wouldn't this be the perfect round-out to the set? With the 12-24, 18-135, and 55-300 all WR it would seem like you could do just about anything and be covered....anybody else hoping for a WR 12-24 or think that it is a realistic hope?

I would rather see a DA 135-400 WR than a DA 55-300 WR

That's actually the number one reason why this lens needs WR, lenses such as these work like vacuum cleaners, sucking dust in the camera when zooming in and out.

Anyone know if a weather sealed 55-300mm lens is in the works? I would buy it IMMEDIATELY if they put one out. I've heard rumors before, but I don't have time to track the news and rumors section daily, and most of what I see here is K5 stuff.

You people are too obsessed with cameras! It's the LENSES that count!!! (end rant)
I know I would love this lense. One of my all time favorite lenses was a Canon EF-S 55-250IS that costs about $250, had a plastic mount but the IS is a solid 3-4 stop. It's not a USM lense, just micro motor and I took some of my favorite shots with it. So for me I would really love a 55-300WR. Nothing fancy just a nice utilitarian lense for just tossing in the back and going.

We should remember that Pentax makes no representations regarding dust on the WR lenses. In fact, they note that the sealed lenses offer dust protection and the WR does not.

That wouldn't keep me from hoping that there is some protection, though. I deal with more dust than rain.

that would be nice. And would leave a place in the lens lineup for the 55-300. But I would think this would be much more expensive from a development standpoint, and the best we can probably hope for would be a WR 55-300...
