also you can get an extended warranty card from Pentax (well on Amazon or direct from B&H, Adorama o, Abe's or whoever) for their K-series bodies. I am not sure if those work for what is not really a grey market camera but one purchased from an authorized vendor. And yeah, I realize it is technically "grey market" but if you pay for the extended warranty it should not matter, right?
Or better yet get a Square Trade or Mack extended warranty that includes accidental damage...I know Prodigital2000 does sell Mack warranties with some of their bodies. Of course you can also buy directly from either one. I like those warranties better because of the repair is too costly or the total spent on repairs over the life of the device, they pay you your full purchase price or let you just pay the repair yourself. And they are transferable...
The one drawback is the warranties with accidental damaged covered cost around 2x more so about $300 for three years vs about $30 for the genuine Pentax warranty or a bit more for a Mack/Square Trade 5yr option...
I was blown away yesterday shopping for lenses and their warranties are five years!! But I know I could never use Nikon because my eye socket would reject the view finder and my hands the body itself...hehehehehe...plus I can't make heads nor tails out of their lense mounts for which body...I think I did myself serious harm trying to learn that at 3AM last night!!
Oh, I've only bought a few lenses from PD2k but always paid the extra $20 or maybe it was even less, to get Next Day delivery to me here in SoCal. Sorry to read there can be problems, seems we all have them.
