Well, it's a comedy article (same guy who did the video where he destroyed a couple dSLRs, which got some forum members here incensed).

It gets some facts wrong, paints Pentax's position as probably a little worse than it is, and leaves out a lot, but maybe it'll attract some good attention.

"Limited only by name, not in terms of the potential performance. The experts at Popular Photography apparently labelled three idiosyncratically unique focal-lengthed Pentax prime lenses (the 31mm f/1.8, 43mm f/1.9 and 77mm f/1.8) the "3 greatest primes lenses we've ever tested".

Mind you, that was in 2002, so there probably are some other prime lenses that will defecate on this triplet from a great height
."

Interesting that everyone always has fond memories of film-era Pentax.
That's an enduring, world-wide brand legacy no amount of money can buy.

Keyword here being 'that' in the title. You can interpret it as "all the other brands can do everything pentax can, even though there's still some little quirks that makes pentax special". Pentax is still rubbish but not "that" rubbish. #1 and #2 are good points though.

Meh, whatever. I'm really happy with the DA 40 and don't see any other brand doing that (or DA 21 or 15) anytime soon. Do Canonikon even have equivalents for FA 31 and 43?

Canon has VERY nice glass for those who can afford the best.
I've yet to find something of the DA40 or DA70's quality at that price.....

No, Pentax is definitely not rubbish...it just too bad so few dSLR buyers know Pentax even exists as a dSLR maker.

To me the biggest thing about Pentax is the over all package. Small, tightly built, incredibly sturdy, weather sealed bodies with lenses that match are not sold by either Canon or Nikon. I would take a K5 body with a limited (any limited lens) over a D700 any day of the week.

Quote from article: "what thief is going steal something with Pentax written on the front? They probably think it's a brand of panty-liner."

I've had Pentax equipment stolen. This writer is a prize ***hole. This reminds me of the "Pentax is the Tampax of cameras" comments on other forums.

You've haven't done anyone a favor by drawing attention to this, despite it's positive aspects.

lmfao

It does mention Pentax in the same sentence as those lenses ending in -lux. That's great company!

Unfortunately, I have also had Pentax equipment stolen. Thieves don't have the preferences of this author.
