On the other hand. A K-5 is now priced at €1119 at Foka (www.foka.nl)
I was not just talking about price, I was talking about availability and none of the official Pentax strores have them, in fact, they don't even know when to expect (okay, haven't checked all of them). What good is the € 1119,00 offer if they don't have it????

Can't agree more with Janneman.
Apparently there are web shops that expect prices to fall and get pre-orders they can fulfill once the prices have dropped sufficiently.
However no shop in the Netherlands that i know of (i have been looking around a lot on the web) seem to have any K5 in stock.
So this seems like a difficult situation to judge.

There will always be some 'gray' import dealer somewhere but i doubt they will cover warranty etc.

So for now it seems there is no place in the Netherlands to go and buy a K5. Therefore the prices don't mean a thing either.

I know from private communication that parts of Pentax have found it outrageous that some Benelux dealers dumped prices for K20D and K-7 that much. But I thought that was settled by excluding Benelux from the cash-back action.

Note that the above is my personal impression and in no way one can draw conclusions what Pentax is doing or thinking. Moreover, I have no information whatsoever about the cash-back action. Except that it was a decided thing to do the time around Photokina already.

BTW, the low Dutch prices are real. E.g., a Pentax K-r sells for €599,- incl. 19% VAT and is on stock. Which is 25€ less than best price in Germany (cash-back qualified however). However, for the K-5, the price difference is 120€ rather than 25€. So, I wonder why Pentax sells the cameras so cheaply to the Benelux importer if they don't like the end prices.

Part of the problem is the how the market works at the time in the Netherlands. Their is Media Markt wich has a very good part of the camera market (up to the level of Canon 7D and Nikon D300s and hardly on the pro-site) but they don't carry any Pentax in the Netherlands (maybe some in Enschede and Heerlen near the German border). Lokal camerastores are shutting down at rapid speed the last five years. The big chunk of the market is diveded between 4-5 internetstores and they compete on price with eachother. I know of at least one store that last year just stopped selling Pentax for a while (even the things they had in store) until the pricehassle with De Beukelaer (Importer for Benelux) was settled.

The big stores are:
CameraNU.nl
Foto Konijnenberg - kenners kiezen konijnenberg
De GROOTSTE kamerawinkel van Nederland! Compleet op het gebied van fotografie en video - alle bekende merken voordelig kopen bij Kamera-Express.nl
And then some stores like camera.nl cameraland.nl digitalstreet.nl

There are alsoo some professional stores like http://www.calumetphoto.com/ and some others, but they don't carry Pentax.

If you take a look at the Pentax,nl website you can sew quite a list of Pentax dealers, even premium dealers.
All the big stores you mention are now premium dealers (oddly enough, the rabbits mountain now is, it was not last year, but now the Belgian rabbits mountain isn't..),
Still, the only stores that (according to the famous kieskeurig site) now have the K-5 in store are not on the official Penatx dealer list. Pricing of those does suggest that the shopowner went to fetch them himself and tries to get the petrol charges on a single body back..

As I have said, the arrival of the DutchBelgian shipment was announced already at leat three times, including your "we will get them thursday". I think we are now in a bad spot with de B.

By the way, FOKA seems to have a good reputation as well and is a Pentax dealer.
I have in general good experience with the other three.

What I can remember, is that the launch price of the K-7 was the same in Euro as in the States in dollar... and rate was $1.4 for 1 € !

What is the launch price of the K-5 in Belgium and in The Netherlands ?

In Luxembourg it is 1159 € (15% VAT included).

In France the K-r goes for 599EUR body only and 619EUR for the basic kit on which you can get a further cash-back of 80EUR.
The K-5 kit is 20EUR cheaper in France compared to NL and of course it is eligible for the cash-back.

So I don't see why you are saying price are cheaper in Benelux (maybe Germany is more expensive but Benelux is not cheaper than the whole euro zone)... they are aligned with France without being entitled for any cash-back...

Compared to most other prices we have seen, including the rest of Europe without France prices are not overrated in NL, Many stores are even cheaper than cameranu

Last time I checked, the price offerings of the Pentax dealers was lower than that but they seem to have no supply yet. OTOH, the stores that do have a supply are far above that... € 1405,00. And those are not official pentax dealers...

And it's in da house, the wonderful K-5. First impressions are simply fenomenal next to my K-7.

Picture number ONE is from PEF set to jpg in camera and a portrait from the man of FotoLooman, camera store In Purmerend in The Netherlands that made this great deal possible to buy the K-5 for 1065 euro (grooppurchase).
