No rebate for the Benelux region?

It seems there will be no rebate for Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg...

This is not normal, because there are rebates in other EU countries like UK, France, Germany, Switzerland (I know, not an EU country) and Austria...

That's what I was wondering too... All of our neighbouring countries have it, then why not us??? Maybe you can mail De Beukelaer about it (De Beukelaer & Co Photographic Distributor Company Belgium Luxemburg).

maybe de B. cannot afford a rebate as quite a large group of pre orderers already got a huge discount.

OTOH, cashback seems to be for Body and a lens only... I think most of the prospective K-5 owners don't need another lens (which will cost more than the € 150,00 rebate) unless it is the DA 18-135 WR.
Rebates end on januarty 15th 2011 and with an offical relaese of the lens on nov 26th and the speed at which de B. manages to release new items (and the Christmas holidays) it remains to be seen if we can get that lens here before the 15th of january

I think we must all mail De Beukelaer about it and ask for an equivalent cashback in Belgium, Netherlands and Luxemburg.

I went saturday to the Salon de la Photo in Paris and decided not to buy the K-5 for the moment because the french cashback is limited to french customers (living in "France métropolitaine")

Interested as well here...

you need to have a home in one of the above mentioned countries or does it suffice that you purchase FROM one of the countries (living in Belgium, I could buy from France and get advantage of the rebate)?

No, if you live in Belgium, you can't get advantage of the french rebate, unfortunately...

Otherwise, I would have bought the K-5.

It is a Pentax cashback...

There is also a 100 € rebate for the body alone.

Maybe de B was excluded because it is a third party...

Haven't noticed that...

I fail to see the fun in cashbacks, just make the things cheaper to buy,

Interesting.

So, the better Benelux deals on K-5 are due to the fact that in the other countries, the cash-back action was already foreseen and taken into account. Makes sense. And if a reason to complain, then in countries enforcing a cash-back overhead.

There is only one deal by a few members of a certain Dutch Pentax forum I had never heard off... (Typical of Pentax marketing I guess), all other stores that do carry the K-5 now (or claim to have ) are NOT official pentax dealers and have veeery high prices (€ 1405,00 body only). Seems odd that the Dutch/Belgian distributor just cannot deliver.

By the way, the last announcemnet of those cheapo pre orderers that they could pick up their camera this thursday is the third "arrival date"rumor fot the Netherlands and Belgium... Yep, arrival has been announced already at least two times...

Funny this is coming up now. I asked the same question to de Beukelaar in Belgium on 31 October. I got an out-of-office notification from Daniel Leibovitz (De Beukelaer) <daniel.leibovitz@debeukelaer.be>. An answer is still pending.

On the other hand. A K-5 is now priced at €1119 at Foka (www.foka.nl)
