Pentax lens in LG camera-phone

"The new king of the phonecamera heap, in appearance at least, has arrived in the shape of LG's L-03C. It comes with a retractable 3x optical zoom lens from Pentax, a 12 megapixel CCD sensor, a Xenon flash, and a 720p movie recording mode."

Pentax-branded lenses have been in non-Pentax point-and-shoots over the years. My mother-in-law has a Casio with a Pentax lens. I've also seen an HP cameras with one too.

My guess is that this LG effort is much like the others, a way to attach a little cred onto a new non-camera brand camera. And yes, Pentax still has some cred.

If this hits the Canadian market, I would actually consider this! I can't see how a smart phone fits in my lifestyle, but this? I always have the cell on me (crappy old LG flip phone), for calling purposes ONLY, and now I'd have a decent little P&S at the same time without having to think!

Great idea, LG- remember the old days, Lucky Goldstar? My first walkman, in like 1983, was a Goldstar.
